constipation !

I know how u feel I had exactly the same had my op on a sunday and the weekend after i was so bloated, uncomofortable and in pain for about 2 days, I would advise everyone to get some tablets to sort it, my mum got some and I finally got rid of it n felt better, but honestly that was the most fed up and uncomfortable i had been n i thought the op was a doddle! x

Hi all, I had my ba on Tuesday evening so have not taken too many of my pain killers yet but woke up this morning with terrible stomach pains and so think I am going to have to stop taking them already, have spoke to the nurse and she has said to take paracetomol instead, I can’t stand up straight at the mo due to the pain x x

:cry:my god the constipations just started stomach feels so bloated just had a little bit to eat and the effects have started .been eating prunes but obviously not enough had ba on fri 18th must be the pain killers.i have to wait till tomorrow now for my mam to get to chemist to get me something.hope it doesnt last long came on all of a sudden

hi butterfly i still havent been last time was fri morn b4 op saying that there certainly wasnt anything left in me after that.eaten full tin of prunes for tea plus i had loads of veg including sprouts.that should get me moving.x

oh i kno how you feel. Had my BA 8 days ago and still hadnt gone up until yesterday so i had to turn to Ducolax to sort me out!! it was a horrible experience but i feel about a stone lighter now!! exercise is great for the bowel but because weve all got new boobies we cant do any. A combination of that an the pain killers jus reduce bowel motility so we become constipated. its horrible horrible!!

thanks for all your comments girls my mams getting me some senekot tomorrow ive been eating tinned prunes i have some fresh orange juice so ill try a big glass of that x

i had that!!
take a senecot before bed
and eat loads of apples, they apparently help says the lady in the chemistt
and make sure you try to drink 2 pints of water a day to flush you out
apparently its the painkillers and GA and because you probably arent eating as much as normal

try eating high fibre foods this really helps. Didnt have a problem when i had my BA because i had my appendix out when i was younger and they told my mum that this could happen, so i spend a good couple of weeks eating high fibre foods and fruit and veg.

Co-codomol is the worst for that!!best thing to get is senacot max strength (better than more chemical laxatives as they cn give u even more tummy pain!!) I work in a medical job and reccomend that to everyone who takes co-codomol, just take one before bed until it eases also all bran works wonders!!gt my supplies ready for after my ba tomorrow!!xxx

Hi hun. I feel for you I was great and pain free post op just discomfort to be honest!!! The co codamol gave me the worse constipation ever in my life to the extent i thought i was going to pass out!!!! I got up one morning at 3.00am and walked around until 5.00am in incredible pain!!!! I remembered i had fresh orange in fridge within 20 mins i was pain free – i know it sounds awful but im very good with my bowels at leastevery day – the tablest were so not for me i stopped taking themand didn’t suffer again!!!
