Ive received my surgeon plan video on the mya app and had a watch I noticed it said that contraceptive implant should be removed prior op? How long before op does this have to be done? I’m due my surgeon consultation on the 19th June so just wondering do I wait untill I see him before I get it removed or is it best after I see him?
I would wait till after you see the surgeon, Just incase you might not need it removing,
I had my appointment yesterday and told the nurse/surgeon I had the implant and it didn’t make a difference. I didn’t get told to remove it they just noted it down. Hope this helps xx
No one suggested I needed to remove mine either deffo have the chat with your surgeon xx
Thanks girls I don’t really want to have to have it removed to be fair I just noticed it was something on the video and thought I’d ask. But I will mention when I meet up. Thanks again x
I have been asked to stop the combined pill as it can increase the risk of blood clots as the surgery also puts you at higher risk too, whether this is the same for the implant I’m not too sure, but I’ve only been asked to stop taking it a month before my op. Ask ur surgeon as it may not effect you if it’s just the single hormone implant you have xx
Hey Zoe. Thank you for the information yeah I will ask I have messaged my pc but she hasn’t replied so I’ll just wait untill the 19th June when I see my surgeon.
Yeah it’s just a single contraceptive implant in my arm. It said in the video that the implant and coil had to be removed but like previously said don’t really want to take it out xx
Hello Ladies,
This is a friendly reminder regarding the contraceptive implant. Some surgeons may require the contraceptive implant to be removed whereas others may not. In your surgeon consultation, please ask the surgeon if this should be removed prior to surgery.
If you have any concerns please contact your PC or clinic.
