Hi all i am worried sick as i have been reasured that myas implants r not pip implants which is good :)…. but i have just read this

“”””On the other hand, there is no reason why you shouldn’t go for the best, and ask for FDA approved implants: at the moment the only FDA approved silicone breast implants are the Allergan McGhan (NOT the Allergan CUI) and the Mentor implants””””

does this mean that our cui allergan impants are not approved???

They’re approved in the uk but FDA is an American thing and they have not been approved over there, I believe they have not had sufficient testing for FDA approval but this does not mean the implants are not safe, I’m sure your PC or surgeon can advise you with more info. Hope this helps

thanks just got worred thinkin omg if somefin goes rong with them they arnt approved…. few :) thanks

I hope the MYA is going to follow the GOV GUIDELINES ! Remove and replace PIP IMPLANTS ? I did not ask for poison to be put into my body , I trusted MYA. You have a duty of care to remove this poison and to give me what I was sold to begin with .A TOP CLASS IMPLANT THE WOULD NOT RUPTURE EVEN IN A CAR CRASH . You gave me a cheap toxic implant (no saving passed on to the customer) If I had a choice I would have paid more for the better product .

    Menu

You gave me a cheap made up INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH IMPLANT,the shit sacks that were used cost £100 not the usual £1,000 and myself & many professionals beleive you knew!?? If I had a choice I would have paid for the more expensive, better top quality implant but was not given the choice to do so, you are suppose to be the best cosmetic surgery business I think now is the time for you to LIVE UP TO THAT REPUTATION & REMOVE & REPLACE FOR FREE WITH BEST QUALITY PRODUCT WE ACTUALL PAID FOR!!!!

    Please see the official statement from MYA below;

MYA Cosmetic Surgery launched in the UK in June 2007. Since 2007 our principal implant provider has been the American company Allergan who have an excellent clinical record. On rare occasions, we have used other implant providers but this has been in less than 1% of the surgical procedures that we have carried out. We take patient care very seriously and if any of our patients have any concerns then we can quickly offer them the support and reassurance that they need.

Gals – Everyone who has had a BA will get a guarantee card for their implants. If u are concerned have a look for this. I have mine which clearly states Allergan Inspira TRX Implants. For anyone concerned look for your card and put your mind at rest.

For pre op gals – PIPS Implants manufacturer no longer exists and PIPS implants have been banned. I do not think that any cosmetic surgery will be using these.

I know two ppl at the mo who have PIPS implants – one done by Harley Medical and the other by a private surgeon.

Mod – if MYA have used PIPS implants in the past can you pls clarify this for everyone…. if these have been used wot is MYA’s plan to rectify this?

I think the whole PIPS thing has caused quite a lot of scares x

We understand there is a lot of information from a range of sources around implants and often inaccuracies can be reported.

Those of you who are considering coming to MYA should be comforted by the fact that MYA exclusively use Allergan implants, unless a specialist requirement is needed that cannot be met by Allergan which then are typically specially made but again these will be a high quality implant not PIP. Allergan are amongst the safest suppliers of implants in the world.

We are sure that over the coming days and weeks you will be fully reassured that MYA acts in the patients best interests that we always endeavor to do the right thing and that we carefully select any medical implants that we use on the basis of the reputation and quality of the manufacturer.

If anybody has any individual concerns please contact us directly so we can give you the reassurance you need.

Your right 2cuks they were only banned last year so thaw the reason most companies were using them because they were legal although I believe re companies must have had some idea why they were cheap etc but I don’t think any cosmetic company would use them now not unless they were MAD plus there banned but I’m pretty sure transform did use them even the NHS did ! Apart from the card your given, how else would you know if you had PIP implants? My sister had her BA about 4 years ago abroad, she hasn’t got any paperwork. Can you tell by having a scan or something?

I really dont know hun – she would have to get in touch with the clinic. She must have some paperwork??

I only know quite a bit bout this as when i was researching my BA (beleive me i spent months researching) the woman i bought my house off who has the PIPs implants gave me so much info on PIPS and BAAPS registered surgeons and FDA approved implants that i went into mass research mode. Im so grateful for her support. I researched many companies and surgeons and their registrations and thats why I made an informed decisaion to go with MYA xxx

I also did a lot of research before I chose my implants, and I am sure that everyone has a way of finding out what implants they have had if they are unsure. It doesn’t seem to me that anyone has had PIP implants with MYA, although I imagine some girls who did not use them are probably contacting them to try and find out info as they are a reputable company, I am sure MYA are looking into this and dealing as appropriate. In relation to the post that states MYA used PIP implants recently, the op date stated on the profile is not for another month, and the post was put on here shortly after the profile was created, and without wanting to accuse the profile of being fake I think perhaps we could all be a little cautious about what was posted because the info doesn’t add up. Thanks for the info Cuks and MYA Mod x

Hey 2cuks, thanks for the advise, I’ll get her to call her clinic! She was young at the time and she didn’t want my mum finding out, so she chucked all her paperwork away before she came home from her ‘holiday’. Hopefully the clinic will be able to send over copies of her paperwork! Xxx

Girls I found this – apparently MYA have used PIPs but not many and they will remove and replace them free of charge for anyone that is worried:

“MYA just updated the facebook page with this…Please see the MYA Statement regarding PIP Implants: “MYA Cosmetic Surgery launched in the UK in June 2007. Since 2007 our principal implant provider has been the American company Allergan who have an excellent clinical record. Our records show that of over 12,500 implants used only 6 have ruptured.

On rare occasions we have used other implant providers but this has been in less than 1% of the surgical procedures that we have carried out. We only ever used a very small number of PIP implants and so our data is not statistically meaningful. We last used the implants in 2009. Of the 48 patients that have had PIP implants 4 implants have ruptured (4 of 96 implants). On each occasion we have replaced the implants free of charge and we will continue to do so.

We take patient care very seriously and so if any of our patients have any concerns then we will continue to quickly offer them the support and reassurance that they need. If a MYA patient has a ruptured PIP implant or they are distressed by the presence of a PIP implant then we will remove and replace the implants free of charge.

If any MYA patients are concerned we would ask them to contact us directly so that we can arrange for one of our highly experienced surgeons to explain all of their options to them. This will of course also be free of charge”.”
