    Hey girls,

Just wanted to share my experience with you.

I had my BA yesterday with Mr A. I arrived at 7.00am half an hour early and was shown to my room. My mum came with me and stayed with me until 9pm. The nurse came to me about 20 mins later and explained what would happen throughout the day. I was then given the lovely paper knickers and gown to wear. It was lovely and warm in my room so didn’t have to worry about dressing gowns etc. There was a flat screen TV with digital channels so was able to catch up on a bit of day time telly whilst i waited. Both myself and mum were given menus so we could order our meals (the chef is a Michelin starred chef!) and drinks for the day and night. There was a tea and coffee machine also so mum could just go and help herself.

About 8.30am the anaesthetist came to see me and explained the procedure, i explained to him how nervous i was as i have never had a GA before. He had a good sense of humour, i told him i was frightened of not waking up from the GA and he said “far too much paperwork involved in that so i won’t let it happen!” which made me laugh and put me at ease. I think this is everyone’s concern having a GA.

Mr A came to see me at 8.50am and was very lovely, he put me at ease and told me there was nothing to worry about! And in hindsight he was right there isn’t anything to worry about! He drew the lines on me and size of my implants (410’s). He is a lovely man and i would say to anyone having him do their surgery, please do not worry you are in very good hands! Both myself and my mum felt very happy about the procedure i was about to have.

I went down to theatre at 11.50 where i met Karen, the theatre sister. She was very comforting and promised me she would look after me whilst i was asleep. This was very reassuring. She explained to me exactly what to expect from the anaesthetic and she was right i felt all the things she explained.

I came round about an hour later not realising i had had my op! Very wierd feeling, didn’t know where i was or why i was there but it only took me a few mins to come round and realise.

I was very sleepy for the rest of the day. The nurses would come into my room about every 2 hours and take my blood pressure and give me more pain relief. There was a lovely nurse looking after me called Felicity. She is one of the night staff and is a fantastic nurse. She was so friendly and calm a real sweetheart! She was extremely gentle and caring. It was Felicity who took my drains out, i wasn’t looking forward to this part as i had read so many people on here saying it was quite uncomfortable- well, i didn’t even know she had pulled mine out until i saw them in her hand! So don’t worry about that bit either girls!

I have also had alot of support from Kayleigh and Anne at the MYA (manchester) clinic and would like to say a big thank you to you both too.

As for pain and discomfort, i won’t lie to you, its not the most comfortable thing in the world but its also not painful, just keep on top of your pain killers and you’ll be fine! I can feel a big improvement already.

Hope this helps any of you waiting to have yours done.

    Good luck girls

Hi I had mine done yesterday too by Mr A, I went down around 1ish and didnt need any painkillers at all until the nurses brought me some for the night time, I wasnt nrevous and had a great experience from start to finish, just feeling a little tender now but enjoying the time off work, I had the 410s aswell and feel they are just the right size.
