    Hi all,

Thought I would follow suit and put my experience of rhinoplasty with Dr G for all to see as I found the other girls information has really helped me both before and after surgery. Its comforting to know its not just you going through it alone.

I, like the other girls had no pain after surgery at all. I had very bruised eyes which wasn’t painful. The worst thing for me has been not being able to breath out of my nose I think and trying to sleep elevated. The first couple of nights I found it easy as think I was still groggy and absolutely shattered but last night had the worst sleep ever.

Its now 4 days after my surgery with Dr G and now and my eyes are starting to look much more normal. I am still in no pain at all!

The only thing that t I am finding a bit hard is that I have two young children and really want to just get on with it with them and carry on as normal but obviously am having to be careful plus my youngest finds me a bit scary to look at at the moment, although he is getting used to it.

Does anyone have any tips on whether I can clean my nose out a bit or not? I am so caked up with dried blood and gunk and Dr G did say leave it to fall out itself but I wondered if anyone cleaned with cotton buds or anything??? Feel embarrassed to turn up on Friday to the mya clinc to get my stitches out with all this dried blood round my nostrils!!! lol.

    Hey Hun !

Glad your feeling ok, isnt it mad how it doesnt hurt at all !

When I met the nurse for my pre op she said to clean it with cotton buds and water, boil the water first so its clean..

This didnt really help me and I picked some away, the bits that I new for sure wernt attached to any stitches etc. but I think that was a bit naughty of me !

Im going to get my stitches taken out tomorrow cant wait for that as there starting to itch a bit !!

Is it 12 days you have to have your cast on for ? I cant remember what he said 12 or 14 if its 12 that means I get mine off on Friday !! Cant wait !! xxx

    Hi hon,

Thanks for replying! Thats very helpful I will defo have a good clean with a cotton bud. Are you able to breath properly through your nose now? I feel like someone has poured quick set cement up each nostril and nothing will budge it. How exciting to be getting your stitches out! I get mine out on Friday. It seems like ages away………

Dr G said 2 weeks to me at Highgate when I was leaving after op – but in all my documentation it says 12 days! Try and go with 12 days hon if you can get away with it :-)

Are you using the nasal spray Dr G gave you?

My hubby is gonna have a go at washing my hair in a mo – god help me!!!

    Good luck with that :)

My first week went pretty quick so am hoping this one will too, ohh if thats the case I will have to wait till monday next week as my op was on the sunday !!

Will see what they say tomorrow I guess, will let you know !!

I used it on the third day I think I was too scared at first, didnt really do much for me though !! Still cant breath through my nose I can a tiny little bit but not enough to be back to normal so through the mouth is easiest at the moment !!

The thought of breathing through my nose again actually seems a little weird now Im so used to this !!

Going to attempt to do mine later too as im back to work tomorrow, I have had mine tied up all week with dry shampoo on that works wonders !!

Ha I survived, i don’t even think the shampoo got a lather bless him but 10 out of 10 for trying.

I have sent him out to bulk buy my batiste, I always use that stuff its a life saver.

I agree, ive been too scared to use it too. How funny how you take things like breathing through your nose for granted :-) just glad I am in no pain. I didn’t think it would be so comfortable.

I know you said previously you were still getting some watery blood. I am too. I also have completely clear fluid still coming out from time to time too – are you getting that???

Good luck with going back to work. I reckon if its a Sunday they might take your splint off on the Friday if you ask, as another girl got it off earlier as it fell on a Sunday.

    Keep me posted.

Ahhh bless, yeh going to ask my boyfriend for a hand later so im sure that will be entertaining ! Just going to tye my hair up for work all this week anyhow dont want to attempt to dry it and do it nicely no point when I look like this haha !!

glad I wernt the only one that was scared, how have you been with your stitches, the first day or two I had quite alot of blood so left the white bit taped to the end of my nose and when I changed it for the first time and looked at my stitches I fainted … Really didnt like them bit of a wimp with things like that !! Can look at them now though but think I was naughty and picked a bit to much blood off so hope ive done no damage :(

Ohh fingers crossed, I’ll upload pics as soon as its off !! Hope I like it !! What did you have changed to yours ? xx

    Hey

I have been o.k with my stitches so far, I have a lot of blood around that area too so left the dressing taped to it for a while, thankfully it seems to have dried up now. I had a little clean today like you said and feel a bit better for it.

The corners of my eyes are really itching…..obviously where the bruising is healing, I keep wanting to get in there and give it all a good scratch……

I had the hump removed and the tip reduced slightly, I also had a ridge between my nostrils which to be honest has never really bothered me as I’ve always been more worried about the hump but Dr G mentioned it and said “why we were there we might aswell fix it”. I was really impressed with him, he had a really nice manner.

I’ve never been happy with my nose but its never sort of stopped me doing anything if you know what I mean but I’ve always been conscious of the size of it and didn’t like people seeing me from the side etc so know that I’ve done the right thing, although have wrestled with the idea loads. It looks very swollen at the mo, I can see the hump has gone which is great but it looks a bit fat at the tip and nostrils are all swollen so its too early to tell l suppose. What did you have done to yours??

Is it tomorrow you get your stitches out?? I’m sure they will be fine hon, I bet everyone picks at them in the end. By Thursday I’ll be doing the same no doubt.

    Good luck at work tomorrow
