I am booked in for my ba & uplift in Jan & at the mo am not staying over, its £200 dearer and as im staying at a friends for a few days to recover (about 10 min from hospital) i thought it was a waste of money but am now wondering whether i have made the right decision. Has anyone that has been through it already wished they had stayed overnight or vice versa??? xx

I thought i’d be staying overnight but was discharged about 10pm the same night. I’m glad I went home when I did as I was a bit sore the next morning and travel would probably have been more uncomfortable.

Its really what you feel would be best and your surgeon will advise you also.

    Good Luck x

Pauline, you said you were discharged… did you live fairly local to the clinic cos I know i was told i have to stay locally overnight (Im opting for a daycase in January)

I dont really wanna have to “waste” an evening in a London hotel then travel back to Swindon the next day if I can get away home with just leaving in the afternoon so long as they are happy with how im doing.

I live about half an hour from the hospital or I definately wouldn’t have been allowed home. x

I booked an overnight stay with the option to be a day case if I felt ok. As I lived 180 miles from the hospital I would’ve stayed in a hotel with my husband and son for the night which was only 3 miles away however although I was in no pain at all I was very sick from the anaesthetic and decided to overnight in hospital just to rest and incase my sickness got any worse thru night so I’m sure you could do same. nobody knows how they’re gonna feel afterwards and the hospitals are lovely, nurses look after u well and food is good. For travelling home I’d suggest a v pillow for ur comfort in the car. That’s one thing I forgot and it would’ve eased my journey a lot. Good luck when the time comes, there’s nothing to worry about :) xx
