im due my ba on 22may and have decided to go in as a day patient. my thoughts are that the op is such a safe op to have done they wouldnt let us go in as a day patient if it wasnt a safe option. i hoping to drive up from cornwall to highgate the day op my op (i know such a long way to travel, but its saves money) have my op then stay in a travelodge close by after. im taking my own bed sheets just to be sure they are clean lol.

What if something goes wrong with my op and they advice me not to leave would i have to pay for the night at the hospital even though i didnt opt for it? what happens.

anyone who has been in the situation please advice me, i have so many questions going round in my head. i feel you guys answer my questions without the B/S i hear sometimes from people who tell me only what they think i want to hear x

you wont be able to drive back the next day hunny, you should fetch someone with you

staying nearby is great, i was a day case and stopped in an ibis near where i went, i stopped the night before and night of my op, then back home the next day. i had my fella with me, and was so feeling the op, all i did was sleep from when i woke up, until the wed (i had my op on a monday)

if you need to be kept in for any reason, then its free, as its a matter of your life in their hands xx

thanks joanna, my fiance is coming with me for support and to drive me back. its really good to know that if anythink goes wrong we stay in. he thinks im fretting about nothing but i just want to make sure i know everything that might happen. i feel when you leave after any consultations i still have 100’s of unaswered questions that i forgot to ask lol x

my fella was the same, up until the night before the op, trying to take advantage of being alone in a hotel, and nope, nothing, nar-da, which was when he admitted he was being strong for me :)

any questions you have, we will answer our best, of you can always ring your pc and make more appointments, as its your money and your body going through it, so you need them all answered

thats what made me stick with a day case, i thought why should i spend an extra £400 when if needs be i will stay in for free, otherwise, for me, its £400 wasted on not buying new underwear xx

If your a day case and everything goes well, roughly how many hours do you have to stay in once you’ve come round from the op? x

hun I was a day case…but due to being in alot of pain and swelling they kept me after my op in the morning until the evening then i insisted to leave as I hate hospitals although I Had a huge lovely room and such a cool nurse Irmina Dyer (highgate) looking after me.

Apparently if you are not well enough to go they have to keep you in overnight free of charge(apparently this is what I was told)
