Really sorry to have to say that I have today cancelled my BA which was scheduled for March
Like many people seem to be saying on here, MYA were fabulous and so impressive at the early stage. My Patient Coordinator Wanda was lovely and so helpful. But I did have massive waits at the surgery to see my Surgeon (approx 2 hours) which left me with doubts about professionalism. I went ahead and booked my op and was excitedly waiting. BUT then came the news that my finance terms and Cond’s had to change (due to the PIP scandal), making things a lot more difficult for me (practically impossible), and for this pleasure I had to pay an extra £95!?! I was not prepared to do this and made numerous phonecalls to the finance team (many unanswered and not returned) Then being told that if I cancelled they would not refund my £150 deposit – but it was not me who changed my terms + conds!
I started to really doubt who I was trusting with my money and my body. I booked another consultation with a different company (just in case and just to see my options). I had this consultation last night and Ive got to say it blew MYA’s out of the water! The surgeon had 20 years experience and was so much more informative. I was there over 40 mins compared to the 10 I spent with my MYA surgeon. If this post does nothing else I hope it will urge people to see a couple of companies to gather info prior to puttinh money down.
Im sad that it has all ended with MYA but I do feel relieved Ive made my choice to jump ship. I have heard some awful things about MYAs post op care and have first hand experience of how bad their finance team can be, but mainly I feel so much more important to the company I have decided to go with.
I hope all goes well with all of you having ops with MYA and Im sure it will but I just wanted to share how vital I think it is that we all fight our corner to be treated like VIPs with something as major as surgery. x
Im so sorry about that hun, who have you decided to go with? Im booked with mr kazzazi but i no he’s not MYA but this sight has been a great help the girls have been fantastic. xx
I am having my ba on saturday with mr Russo. I do agree tht the service they provide is not necessarily the best!! Since I paid my money I have heard nothing from my pc, not even to check I have everything/ am feeling ok. I even had to email to find out where the hosPital was!! It’s quite annoying actually. It’s a huge thing to go through and a little more contact would be appreciated by all I think.
Hope all goes well for you babe xx
I have decided to go with Nuffield (Mr Roberts). As I say they were so much more professional at the initial consultation and so much more reassuring, really going into detail about the finer points of surgery and recovery etc. After the surgeon had finished his speech about it all I did come clean and say that I had my op booked with MYA but that I was very nervous due to their poor treatment of me , changes of financial agreement, lack of communication and bad stories of aftercare. To be fair he didnt slag them (like he could have done to get my business) but he did say about how cutting price by offering no overnight stay was actually just cutting corners and that how vital he saw the recovery in that first 12 hours, just going back to your room at the hosp and sleeping / resting rather than forcing your body to get dressed, walk about and stretch wounds etc. He also quoted some impressive stats regarding his work in the past 20 years (all at the hospital he lives 6 miles from – so he’s on hand if needed day or night).
It is more expensive for me to go with Nuffield but I think its worth it for the peace of mind. But I do agree perks like this forum with MYA have been fab…so helpful talking to all you girls. x
Thats a shame glad you found some1 you are happy with though!! i have been very happy with MYA so far with odd text from my pc. I didnt feel any pressure into booking and my consultation with surgeon was bout 45mins. every1s experiences differ so much though xxxxx
thatsounds great huni, im over night mr k said same its a big op and defo wants me in over night the 1st 12 hrs are important. glad you happy with your new surgeon its worrying enough as it is xx
Good for you babes, You have to be comfortable who you intrust your body to. I had few consultations with different surgeons before my BA. Longest was with Aurora clinic 1.5 hours I think, shortest with MYA – 15 min! LOL! Not really enough to make a life-changing decision…
PS. I was told exatly the same by one of the surgeons – he operates “surgery safety policy” and will not operate without an overnight stay. He said that in the first 12-24 hrs you are at highest risk of complications & therefore should be in hospital care.
Well whoever you choose you will always find lots of support here, everyone helps each other.xx

I’m thinking of doing this too… Had enough of MYAs disorganisation and disinterest since I payed my money.
Good Morning everyone
I am so sorry to see some of the issues raised here and would like to reassure you all that I am looking into this.
If there is anything that is concerning you about your procedure either pre or post op please do get in touch and I can look into this for you.
Many thanks
