you don’t have tits and then you do, you can’t lift anything and are wearing a sports bra. Do you REALLY think they wont notice lol! Also it’s confidential, only your senior manager and HR dept need know. The word surgery is vary vague.

Did u have just a boob enlargement? Unders or overs?

I pretty sure i can take unpaid but i wanted to avoid telling them anything! Its hard enough for me to even tell my family about this so cant tell work :( aaarrrgh x

Hun, I went back in today, i only went small but I wore baggy shirt today and no one noticed or if they did they didn’t say anything. I would take it as unpaid ur manager might be nice and let u take it as sick leave if ur saying ur having a op but would prefer not to mention what it was xx

Ha! My boss is a bloke too. The ideal situation is that he will let me take it off as unpaid and then tell everyone ive gone on holiday! I guess i could just say i injured myself if im a bit stiff when i get back to work?!!? lol xx

if you do nothing for a week you may be ok but 2 weeks is better so when you do go back they won’t notice you in pain even carrying a handbag is painful!!

if you take unpaid best to say family emergency- no questions asked.

You don’t need to make anything up. Just ask for unpaid leave as it’s nothing to do with work. If u go down the skiving route and they want a dr note for being off over a week (most bosses do) n then the doc may say it’s cosmetic or something along them lines, Then work could get a bit funny that it’s ur choice to have it, the office bitch could find out n tell ur boss, get the gist. Plus if u skive off n then wanna tell the world n show them off u can’t coz u “had the flu” or something. It’s not worth the risk of getting disciplined or worse the sack. Unpaid leave is the best option in my opinion sorry to say

And also if u take unpaid leave u don’t have to tell them y or go to the trouble of makin up a story and sticking to it

i took three weeks of from work at short notice as i had a late space apptment. as i do a job that requires heavy lifting and driving all the time, i knew two weeks wouldnt be long enough. i told them i was having surgery, i didnt tell them what and they did try and probe a bit but gave me my holidayl. i unfortunately told one girl i thought i could trust and she blabbed the whole thing to every one! oh well, one week after my ba i got an interview for another job, and i got it!! and i start next week. i did my resignation a week ago over the phone so i never have to face them again. at the end of the day, you shouldnt have to tell anyone you dont want to, its your body and your surgery x

After thinking long and hard about it.. I have decided you are all correct! :)

Im going to say to my boss.. Im going into hospital, nothing serious! but i need to take one week off work. Then depending on what he says i will either get a doctors note or just take it as unpaid. BUT im also going to ask could he please tell people that i am on holiday coz i would rather people didnt ask me questions as its quite personal. PLUS the HR manager is a blabber mouth and i cannot have her finding out and trying to probe me.. grrrrr

Cant be fairer than that i guess?!

    Thanks everyone! xxx

Tears are always a good plan especially with blokes, remember it’s a neccessity not just cosmetic :-D.

Saying that Ive booked the time off as holiday and not told my boss why lol, I’m sure they’d be fine with it but I don’t want the awkward conversation!

You might need to check your HR policy. Ours states no sick leave for cosmetic surgery only sick leave if comPlications arise after the normal recovery period.
