    Hi girls,

Did anyone get transport from MYA? When I spoke to my PC from The Hospital Group, they were gonna send me a car to take me to and from the hospital but when I asked my PC at MYA she said there’s no way they could arrange transport for me and I can’t get in a taxi by myself!

I’m having trouble getting someone to pick me up!

    Hi ladies,

    Just to confirm…

Transport is not usually included with your procedure.

However, please do contact your PC if you are worried about how you will get home and they will provide advice and support.

Any questions please let us know.

    Thanks

least they could do for us as spending so much money, getting train up to hospital tomorrow and taxi back. if i didn’t have car accident, my friend would of picked me up. contact mya mod and explain, they might be able to help you

    Menu

So why did my PC say I couldn’t get one?! I know some companies charge extra and I don’t mind paying but it would be so much easier if I didn’t need someone to pick me up! x

    Menu

So MYA mod can I go home in a taxi by myself then?

My transport cost me an absolute fortune as live over 200 miles from clinic. Didn’t get anything back as pc said MYA didn’t arrange transport. I’ll be well pee’d if I find out other people have had this included x

    Thanks Mya mod

I’m the same MsWasp, I’ve got 2 small kids and have to spend a fortune coming down to London to have my op as there’s no one to watch them where I live!

I am disgusted by this!! I live 3 hours from the clinic and was told MYA didn’t arrange transport!! So far I have had 2 consultations (1 of which my pc didn’t turn up), 2 nurses appointments plus my op which have cost ME £80 a go in petrol expenses – not to mention a hotel for the night before my op!! Absolutely disgusting that some people have had this paid. Especially when I asked about it!!

i only had mine done for me because my op got cancelled on the monday, and i had no money to book a hotel or anything. its definatly not included in the whole price thing tho x

rinaule looks like a few girls are saying their’s is included tho. Don’t get me wrong, Im happy for you girls who have had it paid but Im disgusted that I’ve paid out all this extra money when I maybe could’ve got at least some of it reimbursed. It’s the same when people pay more for the same op than someone else did!

i dont have a clue then. iv known from the start it wasnt included but i can see its annoying for some people who have been told it is which is wrong, i was quite peed when i see some people paid less for there rhino lol and iv nearly paid 5000 but i dunno what goes on i know some people get discount and stuff

Most other companies provide transport door to hospital free of charge. When my pc told me MYA didn’t offer this I still decided to go with MYA for the sole reason I wanted Mr Traynor. That’s the only reason I chose MYA. If I had my time over again I would never in a million years chose MYA because I have had so many issues with them! x

I wouldnt think MYA would be willing to pay for transport to pre/post op appointments, nor would I expect that. I am slightly peeved though that I paid for a taxi to the hospital and back home after my BA. If I’d of known MYA arranged this it would of saved me £70!!

The nurses at hospital weren’t overly keen on me leaving on my own with a taxi firm I knew nothing about but I didn’t really have a choice. I told the nurse at my pre op app I had no one to pick me up after op and she seemed fine about me getting a taxi as long as someone would be at home when I got there. X

    Menu

Like Tracy said loads of other companies provide transport, the PC I spoke to basically lied and said Mya didn’t do transport! I would have paid extra if I had to!

    Menu

Mini, that’s good news because I have no one to pick me up & I hate asking people for favours at the best of times! x

mini I wouldn’t expect MYA to pay for transport to and from consultations/appointments, I was just making the point on how many times I had to travel. So if MYA do provide transport for ‘certain’ people on the day of the op then I should’ve been well at the top of the list!! I had to travel down by train the night before my op (£38) stay overnight in a hotel (£58) then my boyfriend had to drive down and pick me up the next day (£60 petrol)! Not to mention £500 for an overnight stay which I really didn’t need but was told by MYA I had to have as I lived too far away! x

Me2 pinkjade. Lol. At the time of my op only my OH knew what I was doing.

After hearing other people have had transport provided for the op I’d push to get it for yourself. It’s not fair on us that were either told they don’t provide transport or were stupid not to ask (me, durrr). Ring your pc and tell her you don’t have anyone to take you or pick you up n you’ve spoke to a few girls that have had transport provided by MYA. Don’t let em BS you!! X

    Menu

When I asked for transport I got told ‘I’ll ring head office & see if I can get you a discount if that’s what you’re pushing for’! :|

Yeah I know what your saying Tracey2010. I never asked about transport but with them knowing I would be traveling solo to and from the hospital you would of thought they would of mentioned this. They make a big deal about someone picking you up after op because you’ve jus been sliced n diced, not to mention being high of the GA, but when I told the nurse a clinic she wasn’t concerned about my travel arrangements.

So did you ask about transport? X

    Menu

    Hahaha that’s OK Tracy!

I’m not even too fussed about the transport, it’s just that The Hospital Group were gonna provide it for free (and they were cheaper anyway!) and I know Transform provide transport as well so it seemed weird that Mya wouldn’t do transport!

Yes I did ask. Id already had consultations with other companies who did provide transport (included in price) so because I live so far away this was the first thing I asked my pc. She said MYA “DID NOT PROVIDE TRANSPORT” so I believed my pc and went away and thought about it. Id already decided I wanted Mr T so I decided to go ahead and book with MYA x

I think this is where MYA go wrong. There should be set prices for the ops with everyone getting the same perks ie: travel. If you’ve got a valid discount like late space or friend referral, then fair enough, it Ps me right off though when I here people have paid way less than me for exactly the same thing without discounts.

Btw, do you think I should have got late space knocked off? Seen two surgeons, the day I saw the second surgeon I booked my op. I asked about late space n was told no. The op if I remember rightly was less than two weeks after initially seeing the surgeon?? X

    Mini – totally agreed!

And yes you definately should have got the late space discount, without a doubt!

I think those of us that are quiet (yes, believe it or not I am quiet and don’t speak up for myself well) get taken for alot more money than those that insist on stuff! Feel like MYA walked all over me!

    Menu

That’s so wrong Tracey!! The pcs are basically sales reps. They sell you the ‘product’ whilst trying to make as much money as possible. If they can get away with adding something on or not including something, they will. Wish I’d have figured this out sooner!! X

    tracy2010 1

So true. But to be lied to when we’ve asked the question is very wrong! Fair enough if you don’t ask you don’t get but I did ask!!! x

See that’s the thing. I’m not quiet. I just went in there not knowing what to expect, I just took everything they said as the truth!! If I could turn back the clock I’d have done things sooo differently. Researching more for a start!! X

    Menu

I got told it only counts as a late space if there was a cancellation. The only reason I didn’t go with The Hospital Group was because I wanted Mr Singh and couldn’t get enough information on the surgeon even though he was sooo lovely!

Do u no what pinkjade. I don’t no what the criteria is…. It seems to change depending on how you put It to them and how persuasive you are. God… I feel like a right frigging numpty!! X

Me too!! It’s just so annoying to know that we’ve been ripped off! It should be the same rule for everyone, don’t know they can justify it otherwise! x

I think it’s partly because I booked with a different PC, my normal PC is bloody amazing, really helpful, but she was on holiday & I’m impatient lol x

It shouldn’t matter which pc we have though they should all have the same prices and info. It seems that there are very good and very bad pc’s at MYA but it’s not our fault if we end up with a ‘bad’ one. We shouldn’t have to research the pc as well as the surgeon! x

I agree Tracy, if it wasn’t for forums like this half of us wouldn’t have a clue! x

    Hi everyone

We have been looking into the issues raised in the post and would like to confirm the following points:

There is no set criteria for late space. It applies to specific surgeons, on specific dates at specific times of the year. Late space is not readily available all of the time.

Transport is not included in the cost of surgery at MYA. There are a handful of MYA clinics that form an exception to this rule as they are of a great distance to the hospital.

If a patient would like transport organising MYA are happy to assist in organising this but it does come at an additional cost.

Prices can vary from patient to patient depending on what type of procedure you are having, what type of implants and depending on whether you have a late space discount, friend referral discount or if you are a past patient having a second procedure.

    Hope this helps.

Any questions please contact your PC or send us a private message.

    Many thanks

    MYA

But when I asked for transport I got told Mya don’t do transport, why didn’t the PC just say I’d have to pay extra for it?!

I’ve spoken to people who have had the same size and brand implant, placed under muscle and overnight stay and they’ve paid a couple 100 £ less than me. That’s without any discount such as friend referal or ‘late space’ discount. I don’t know how they managed to get it cheaper, I’m guessing they blagged a discount with threats of going elsewhere…. I could be wrong on the tactics but there’s no doubt she had exactly the same procedure at a lower cost. X
