Hi girls,
just thought id inform you of what happened on my day – unfortunately not what i expected of MYA really.
I was due at Rochdale’s Highfield hospital at 7.30am, for a morning operation and daycase stay. My day started with leaving home at 5am, was told not to eat or drink after this time due to my op, so i didnt. Arrived at hospital at 7.30am, was shown to my room and was visited by the nurse who took details and informed me i was first on the list and due in theater at around 9.15am, and then i was visited by Traynor and the anethetist. All set, i prepared myself for what was to come! Then.. half 10 arrived on the clock and still no word as to why there was a delay.. so we rang for the nurse to find out what was going on, and she told us my implants hadnt arrived due to an ordering error, and they were now due to arrive around 1pm… When were I going to find this out?! Then HALF ONE arrived, and again no word of what was happening! I rang for the nurse again to try and be updated of the situation but she didnt seem to know whether my implants had arrived or not and told me she was going to get the theatre manager to visit me. TWO HOURS later at HALF 3 and at a time when i was nearly giving up hope of having my BA on this day, the theatre manager finally visited myself, and told me my implants arrived at 1.15pm.. So why hadnt i been informed of this and why if i was a daycase and apparantly first on the list, how had i not been called down yet? The theatre manager then said i would go down in the next 45 minutes, which was the only true statement of the day.
After all this, My daycase turned into an overnight stay which i was not prepared for at all, and my mum had to sleep in a chair next to my bed all night! certainly not what you expect after paying £3650! Not to mention i hadnt had a sip of water or a bite to eat for 11 hours due to the delay and not being informed properly, after this time my tummy was actually hurting! But the thing im most disappointed in is the fact i geared myself up for this after so many months and i put my faith in MYA, however i do feel they let me down…. the day did not go smoothly and was rather more of a shambles, certainly not reassuring when your going for something as important as an operation!
Hope non of you girls have to go through this, as it completely ruined my day!
X
Lola
Thats horrible its not hard to keep you informed is it really, this is what i am so scared of that my implants dont arrive. i hope you are healing well tho chick. can i ask did they charege you for staying over.
Oh Lola i am sorry to hear this! i assume they wouldn’t charge you for your stay!! the least they could of done was made your mum more comfortable!! i hope you are on the road to a happy recovery tho xx
I can o Lyme ho what Lola said as it is exactly what happened to me. It was 1 pm for me from 7.30 until someone told me what was going on. Lola , did they tell you where the problem had occurred with the implants ordering?
hi pickle, i hope your recoveringwell x was it the same hospital?? xx
Oh godness sounds like both of you had quite the eventful day not in a good way, at least you have your new additions tho
hope your recoveries go really well and it all goes smoothly from now on xx
omg.. i would off freaked!!! i bet your both glad its over and done with now tho xx
Ive heard a few stories like this now and they all seem to be from patients at Rochdale. Why does the patient care there seem to differ from that at Highgate? I had my op at Highgate 2 weeks ago today and cant fault them on anything! x
i am having my op there on 22 june with mr t – think i will be double checking all ok before after hearing your story -glad you have had your op now and recovery goes well now xx
Just read my disasterious predictive text post lol – it should of said . I can only echo what Lola has said lol!
I rung both one week in advance and a few days before to check which implants had been ordered – the receptionist read which ones had been ordered from my notes so mine ha def been ordered. I then repeated the phone call two days before to check again . I did this specifically to avoid this as I had also heard of it before.
Mr Traynor told me he knew what happened – they had been ordered but for the wrong date. I asked my PC this though and she was 100% confident they had been ordered for the correct date. So who knows what went on?

That’s terrible! So sorry to hear you had to go through this on your day. Have you had any sort of explanation yet?
Aside from that, are you recovering well? Hope you’re ok xx
Sorry to hear that, try nto to let this affect your R&R and concentrate on healing chick….and CONGRATS on your new additions!!!xx
Sorry to hear that an admin mess up caused so much stress for you hun. You’d think the least they could do is just admit the error and keep you informed the second they know something.
I hope you get the apology and explanation you deserve and I wish you all the best for your recovery – you too pickle. xx
Hey girls, sorry i went offline!
My PC rang as is trying to get to the bottom of what happened, but i still feel whats done is done now, and feel it all could have been avoided with better patient care.
Im recovering fine now, but the night at the hospital was awful, kept waking up hoping it was morning but it wasnt, think it was due to having the anastetic quite late.
Dont worry girls, I hope MYA make sure these issues are sorted for future patients due to this message!
XX
I’m there in two weeks. Worried now

Hi ladies, can you tell me what type implants you got and prices as I think my quote is a little steep.. £3800 start for basic implants not naturelle or anatomical
That’s what the prices start at for an overnight case hun. I was shameless though and bartered the price down.
x
i was quoted £3850 for a day case and £4250 for an overnight stay…???
Yeah, that’s the price everyone gets quoted hun xx
i think mya realy need to get more organised – they moved me forward and then today theyve cancelled it – im so gutted dont know what to do now!
