Random question but I play djembe quite regularly, and have a horse who needs riding at least twice a week (also feeding, water buckets, poo picking field etc). How long after my op will i be able to do these things? The lady at MYA said 3 months for horse riding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously??? What about driving etc?

Hi newboobies – no idea what djembe is (sorry!) but I used to ride quite a lot and I would say a couple of months probably (for riding) – besides all the jiggling about you’ve got the risk of falling off and banging one of your new lovely jubblies! And once they’re in you’ll probably be a bit scared of damaging them – I can remember saying I would be back running way before the 6 weeks but at the moment I’m even concious of them when I’m walking as I don’t wanna make them sag! I’m sure you become less paranoid as time passes – and I suppose it will depend on the size/weight of implant (I had 505 so fair size implant). Driving – a week i would say – I had overs – think it’s more tricky with unders?xx

Yeah I’m having unders (380cc in one, 410 in the other). Thanks for the info on riding & driving. My horse is gonna go to shit lol.

Djembe is african drumming (the big goblet shaped drum that you play with bare hands). I’d say there’s a lot more jiggling and movement than with riding.

WOw – that sounds fab! But yeah – the jiggling is probably going to be a bit uncomfortable for a while. I have a little boy who is 1 year old and a chunky little thing and I can lift hime for the last 3/4 days but don’t really feel comfortable carrying him any distance yet – but carrying water buckets with arm locked down low might not be as bad?! Have you got anyone who could ride for you for a while? That is a LOOOONG time for him/her to be out of work! I’d offer but I don’t wanna wreck my jubblies! Lol! You could probably lunge after a few weeks (if your horse is well behaved?!). I think you’re just going to have to play it by ear and not expect to much – then you can only be pleasantly suprised if it all happens quicker xxx

I’ve found someone to exercise my mare for 3 months now while I’m off. Actually works out well for me cause she’s a much better rider than i am and will have my girl in tip top shape by the time i am ready to ride again LOL.

Best possible answer newboobies. I’m 5 days po, have 5 horses, one a TB eventer who really needs riden 6 days a week and the last thing on my mind would be the possibility of harming my new pups. Thankfully I’v got a girl who will ride 4 days a week for me and poo pick. I certainly wouldn’t want to be getting on her after 6 weeks off!!! My hubby is really good too and doing the water. You know how unpredictable horses can be and it’s just not worth the risk. I might get up on one of the quieter ones after about four weeks but with a body protector on (if it still fits lol). There was a thread on here a few weeks ago saying that if you fall off before the six week period that you wouldn’t be covered insurance wise but I dont know the truth of that!

Hope this helps, whens your op? X

my pc said i could ride after 6 weeks, she said its more about the risk of pulling on the scars. but my job is horse riding and can only gt 4 weeks off so im hoping the first week back i can just do stable duties and so hopefully i will be ok at 5 weeks. other people who ive spoken to who ride, said they were fine riding at 4 weeks. also at work we have to wear a tight fitting body protector so that will support me abit. ill never be able to get more than 4 weeks off work so teres n point putting it off anylonger x x

My op is on May 28th!!!! Eek. They said to me 3 months :( Although said I’d be fine to do stable duties etc after a few weeks. I think they are mainly concerned about falls and if she pulls etc.

How are you feeling now Beau and izzy?

Hi newboobies, I’m starting to feel a bit more like myself! Still a bit uncomfortable but put my new D cup bra on yesterday and smiled from ear to ear xx I’ve started doing a bit of poo picking which isn’t too bad, cant upend the barrow though. I had to get up on my mare last night to assess a problem. Getting up was ok as I used a chair but then I had to get down!!!! Ouch, ouch, ouch, definately NOT advisable it brought tears to my eyes.

9 days to go, not that you’ll be counting XX

Yeah izzy, it seemed like a good idea at the time, but definately wasn’t! I didn’t even think about the getting down part as its somthing you just do and it took about 5 mins for me to brave doing it lol. A step ladder would’ve been a godsend X
