There’s no law or anything is there that says I have to tell work if I’m having an operation? Might sound like a silly question but I’m not saying anything at work and I don’t want to go in and have the boss tell me I was legally obliged to let her know or something.x
No of course not, although you will have to book time off and if you work in a very physical job it would be wise to let them know you won’t be able to do much for a while x
Thank you. I have booked 2 weeks holiday x
I didnt hun. Just cos i work in a male dominated environment, cos i wasnt going huge noone noticed. I have a very.physical job and was bk to work after 18 days xx
Funnily enough…….
The HR stance on this (I checked with my dept)
Now all you have to tell work is that you are having surgery – as long as you provide a sick note that says you are unfit for work your company has to pay you sick leave.
Thefore my co are getting a sicknote off me for 2 weeks.
haha at ticky88.
i didnt tell my work just took it as holiday xx
Not using my hols – they can pay me full whack… lol
I drive a co car so not insured for first week – cant drive cant work!
Lol @ ticky
Thanks girls, just wanted to check, she can be funny at times and likes to know everything. She’s aready not happy because I haven’t said where I’m off on holiday for 2 weeks lol x
Belle – tell her you are going to f’off and mind ur own business land, all inc for 2 weeks lol xx
i fout about telling my boss that i was having surgery just incase i have to take time off for any further appointments if i need them but i dnt really want to! cause thats when the questioning would start and its like gossip city in this office!x
HAha hha ha hha ha cuks i was gonna write same!!
Got shit all to do with her. Dont lie and say ur away incase.anyone sees u. Just say u just fancied some time off to spend with friends and family xx
I wouldnt tell him! If you need time off for future appointments id just say it was a health issue and you needed the time off. As long as you give plenty of notice (i think it is around 1 – 2 weeks notice depending on the length of time needed) he cannot refuse it i dont think
xxxxx
bollocks, I took holiday. Didn’t realise I could take sick leave! damn x
Xellex yes you can -I asked my HR dept and told them exactly wot it was for and they said if a dr signs you off the co cannot question the reason why.
Hence the reason I am going on sick for two weeks.
I think cause its elective surgery we think we are not allowed time off.
If and when I get mine done, I dont want to tell work as I would get the P*ss taken out of me for doing it, and mainly men where I work too
x
theres alot of stuff to do with health and safety uve gotta think about hun, in terms of what they can cover, i told my dep bout my op as she was young and had already had one, and she had to tell my manager exactly what i was having done as certain things i wouldnt be able to do. and i only work in a clothes shop so its not exactly strenuous but they need to be covered and so do you xx
i would think it depends on what the job is,from a health and safety point you could tell her that your having an operation, its womens problems, and its not something you want to discuss,it is a womans problem after all if you unhappy with your boobs, and personal, if your taking hols, chances are youll be fine in a couple of weeks but if your job involves lifting hun you may need to go back on light duties for a couple of weeks,in that situation she will need to know for health and safety reasons, and you dont want to be spoiling your new boobies by straining your self.
Thanks girls. I think I should be okay as I only work in an office so if I don’t legally HAVE to tell them then I won’t. They can wait until I’m back to know what I’ve been up to
xx
you go girl give em a shock, lol, xxxxxxxxxxx
I had the same worry hun. I told people at work that I was goingt to Wales for 2 weeks!
But I did tell a big boss that I trusted and dont work directly with that I was having cosmetic surgery and didnt want anybody to know. I told her just incase there were any complications and I needed more time off. Then I could go straight to her to authorise instead of asking my direct manager.
