Do you have to stay over night in hospital now????

Hi I had my consultation last week with my PC and booked my surgery date, I was reccomended on my first app with her that the ibis was closest hotel to Preston hospital, so was happy enough just to book that, however when I saw her last week she told me that it had all just changed and that wasn’t an option any more that you had to stay over 1 night in hospital and you cannot even stay in a nearby hotel any more?? Has anyone else been told this yet? Xx

No I haven’t been told I need to stay over. Having mine in Preston also in March. I was planning on staying in a hotel the first night but ideally I’d like to go home we live about an hour away. I’ve got a other appointment Tuesday I can ask then xx

I think it’s literally just changed in the past 2 weeks, maybe because I hadn’t paid my deposit and signed my stuff before it changed that I will have to stay in the hospital on the night of surgery. My PC is Julie at Newcastle, she reccomndes ibis at my initial app but then when I was there last week said it had all changed. I wonder why lol xxx

Hi, yes it’s recently changed for anyone who lives over 90 minutes away from the hospital. I’m in Newcastle too and Julie told me the same thing, think it is just for health and safety reasons xx

Hi , i am not a myas patient, but i had my op nearly 2 weeks ago and i was given the choice to stay over night at no extra cost, my consultant suggested i did, so i could rest up in silence
(I have two young kids lol) and didnt have to do a car journey home (only 40 mins max). He also said gives me chance to have appropriate pain relief ministered etc , which the nurses and were fantastic.
Im so glad i did stay, iv never reacted the best to anaesthetic anyway always been extremely sick regardless the amount of anti sickness im given. I was first on the list and was back in my room for 12ish so was nice to not have to move all day when i felt rubbish. When the next morning came i was dosed up with pain relief and antisickness and ready for home, plus breakfast and tea in bed lol. X

Yes I got told this too, I had planned on coming home but since I live an hour and half away my pc said I had to stay there overnight xx
