does anyone know how long it takes 4 incisions 2 fully be closed and healed?

So worried about infection etc anyone have any advice when safe x

Mine were closed up fully by 6 weeks hun, in fact probably before that. go by what your nurse says and just avoid touching the scars or wearing a dirty bra etc

Mine were closed around 6 weeks too,I continued to wear breathable scar strips,for about 4 months,I wanted to flatten the scars,also did’nt want to risk my scars touching my bra in case tiny fibres from the bra rubbed against my skin and got in to the scars.xxx

I am 13 days post op and just have steri strips on, the nurse said to remove them today but not gave me anymore dressings. I will give her a ring today and see what she says.

Lots of members have been fine when the steri strips come off honey,I think its down to personal preference,I felt a little more protected with the strips on,I know some members feel that getting air at the incisions helps,but the strips I used were breathable,so I was content to keep mine on.I bought some from Ebay,and just renewed them each time I showered.xxx

I’m 10 days post op…I still have my strips on…when do people take them off? I’ve forgotten what the nurse said lol x

where do u get theses strips? shud u wear em all the time? n how long 4? x

I went back to the nurse at day 7 and she took my dressings off and replaced them with steri strips. I kept these on for a further week. When I took them off (2 weeks in total) I was amazed at how well my incisions had knitted together and how smooth they were. They were literally just like red lines.

I was terrified of keeping them uncovered but I was fine.

You can buy the steri strips cheap off ebay if you think you really need them though x

am the same as tracey, took steri-strips off after 2 weeks and my scars were fab- hardly anything there! so had nothing on them since xx
