Does everyone get the thick white tape on their boobs after surgery?

Hi girls, having surgery in July, looked at a few of your pics today and noticed some people have the thich white tape and others don’t? I was just wondering what the difference is? It looks like it would be really uncomfortable and hurt to take off!

it depends on the surgeon hun some use it some dont, i had dr singh so i had the white strapping and i hated it really uncomfy, couldnt wait to get it off, the strapping acts as a support for the first 7 days and keeps you boobs in place xx

Hi Hun. It depends on your surgeon. My surgeon doesn’t use them. They are all different and work differently.

Some surgeons use the tape for you to leave on for 1 week and to use this without a bra then use a sports bra after it’s removed.

Other surgeons don’t use any and make you wear a bra constantly for 6 weeks and others say don’t wear anything for 6 weeks.

Same with drains. Some use them, some don’t x

Thanks for the reply I have Dr Singh too, I really don’t want the tape but I’m wondering if it might help them heal better? Did you take it off yourself? It looks like duct tape! There is so much information on here which I didn’t know! Did you buy one of the macom bras? Some people seem to be using them and others just use sports bras.

i left mine on till the nurse took it off, i found it painful coming off and i got a high pain thresh hold, i didnt have a macom bra, over priced i think, i had the tesco maximum support bra which i found awesome and only £6 xx

Ok thanks hun. I don’t think my pain threshold is great, I’m staying in overnight to get extra pain relief if I need it!! I will ask Dr Singh at my pre op consult if I can choose to not have the tape. Your pics are amazing. I hope mine look as good!! xx

Does anyone know if Traynor uses the white tape? xx
