I actually had no idea about this before my op but since, i have heard a few people say that exercise can adversely affect unders. I can’t exercise atm as i’m still recovering from the draining of the fluid on my right breast, but when I get the go ahead I wanted to go back to the gym. I was planning on 4 classes pwk (legs, bums, tums, zumba, and spin), along with running machine, weights, rower, and swimming. Has anyone been told they can’t or shouldn’t do this with unders?

pre op i used to do 2 spin classes, 2 circuits and 1 kettle bell class a week, ive only just started back last few weeks but do mostly spin now, ill do the occatinal circuits class but i only use the light weights.

running will be fine as long as uve got a good sports bra on, ive never been much of a swimmer so i dont know about that.

im only staying away from heavy weights becouse theres a lady in my gym whos had unders and she does alot of weights and hers look odd.

my nurse said exercise would be fine but not to lose too much weight or it’ll alter the apperance or cause rippling, which in my case it has. x

I was relieved to be offered overs as I had heard that with unders the muscle may distort the implant with exercises such as rowing. I wasn’t actually told this by the surgeon though but I was offered overs so I don’t suppose it was relevant x

Oh forgot to say for anyone that doesn’t know, i’m already 3 months po, will be 4 when i can exercise again (Hopefully!), so i’m talking long term. Because if that’s the case, how the hell am i supposed to lose weight?? lol.

    Thanks Debs x

cardio makes you lose weight, so up your running, spin class is a excellent fat burner, zumba be fine and just do leg weights and light arms, stay away from anything that pulls on the chest and ull be fine, im really missing kettle bell becouse it was fab for toning but id miss my bobbies more lol x

i would avoid rowing i think..anything that you would use the pectorial muscles coz it can distort the implant, a surgeon i seen said he wouldnt give a hairdresser unders coz of the arm movements with hairdryers etc but the classes and running should be fine with a good bra on! u should give them a call xx

I will do, thanks girls :) Can’t believe no one said anything about this before i had my op. Mind you, i only really just got the urge to start exercising so maybe i didn’t pay attention. I want to bodysculpt which requires quite heavy weights a few times per week as more muscle burns fat. I will ask the nurse anyway before i do anything xx

Hellooo not at all. I do loads of gym, horse ridibg etc. I have had no problems! My boobs feel a little firmer after a goid sesh but thats about it.

However… sis in law has unders and has started pole dancing she now has muscle distortion. I think it just deoebds in the individual.

I done loads of gym pre op so i think ur muscle will be more worked that way!!

i done LBT six weeks po and was fine. I also do abs blast and circuits.

Oh and i asked mr traybor about this and he said i was fibe and unders would not affect me at all x

Thanks :) I didn’t do any exercise other than horse riding for years before my BA lol so my muscle isn’t used to it. Going to ring them tomorrow (today) and see what they say.

I am a little worried about this now. I do a boot camp 3 times a week and there is lots of boxing and shoulder presses and press ups. I am having unders in 2 weeks. Will this mean i will have to stop??

I had my consultation with mr Adamo today, he took one look at my boobs and said “you do lots of exercise”. He could see that my pectoral muscles were quite developed so he told me that unders would be a big no no as the muscle would make the BA look and feel very hard. i’m not sure if this would be the same if you have already had the op tho?

    Menu

oh!! I may have to go back in the next 2 weeks and speak to Mr K before i have the op. I cant stop the exercise i really cant!

hi chellebelle, i had unders 4mths ago, i still exercise 4/5 times a week but before op id do circuits bootcamp and boxersize, i still do those classes but only once/twice a week then i do spin and legs bums and tums to give my upper body a rest. i only do lightweights now but i build muscle easily and start to get madonna arms if i do too much anyway which doesnt look good.

ive had no problems my boobies are still very firm so im guessing its the tightness of the muscle just make sure you wear a good sports bra and ease yourself back into it.

Thanks Debs30, i was getting worried then that i would have to give up one of the only exercises that i have grown to love. I have done so many things over the last year and this is the most beneficial to me. My upper body is so much more toned that my bottom half that i wouldnt want to lose that. I dont mind giving it a rest for 6 weeks or what ever it takes but i dont want to give it up completely.

I was thinking if i do go back to the gym after 2 weeks or so i could just power walk on the treadmill or something to keep active. I have PCOS so have a tendancy to gain weight really easy even tho i dont eat a huge amount. :-)

So your shape hasnt changed at all then?

I am a hairdresser and i went back to work 6 days post op and the muscle part hasnt affected me at all!

I am 3 weeks post op and have just started back at the gym yesterday, doing light cardio. Im pretty sure you’ll feel it before it does any damage hun, just take your upper boddy easy n go back in to it slowly x

no my boobs look the same now as they did at 8 weeks po thats when i started back at the gym.

i have got a little bit of rippling but thats more to do with me being small and having 410 implant, its not visable at all tho and doesnt bother me anymore.

like i said there still very firm, id like them softer but i can go bra-less and they just stay there.

i wouldnt go back to the gym at 2wks its a little bit too soon becouse u might look like your all healed on the outside but your still healing on the inside.

i thought i would put on weight after my op but actually lost 4lb but my diet was crap all i could eat for a week was dry crackers, kitkats and mini rolls i had zero apetite.

also ill put money on it that at 2weeks po the last thing ull want to do is go to the gym as much as i love gyming it i wouldnt of entertained it at that point. x

Well I haven’t been back to the gym since i posted this.. too scared. Really annoying though as I had all these great plans to do a class 4 times pwk, an hour in the gym every day, then a swim after each session… meh! Going back tomorrow and will stick to the running machine.

Hi Debs, Please could I add you, I sent you a request yesterday but for some reason it keeps saying error when I try to inbox you. I have been offered 410s but worried they’ll look too big on me. Not sure on overs or unders yet. Also with rippling, is it always there or does it come and go if you know what I mean? can you see it/feel it or both? Sorry for all the questions lol thanks xxx
