It depends what surgeon you have, some surgeons don’t use them. I had Mr Adamo and he doesn’t use drains x

Hey girls, I am 4 and half weeks post op now and had mr kazazzi, he used drains and can honestly say I was absolutely papping it when it came to drains but seriously, what a doddle! you wake up and you have them in and you have to cart them to the loo with you like little handbags but I promise you can’t feel them when they are in and I didn’t feel a thing when they took them out… The nurse told me to breathe in when she pulled them out and I said “is that it, are they out!?” Don’t worry about them, trust me you’ll be fine :) xx

Hiya Liegh, nah you aint stupid at all…i only learnt what drains where on here, think my surgeon uses them but im not rly bothered, i actually prefer it if he does. Have you read about certain “gurgling” noises? Well, the drains actually drain that fluid that builds up from havin the op so you dont get them noises. If you dont have drains, your body will flush it out eventually, its just what each surgeon prefers, cos some think that using drains helps you heal quicker but some think they dont make a difference. Iv not had my op yet so dont know exactly where they are put but im guessin it will be at the side or bottom of your boobs. Hope this helps!! Oh yeah, and they will remove them before you go home lol xxx

Yeah drains are to drain out excess fluid and blood – sounds awful I know but I’m glad my surgeon used them as I always think it’s always better out than in!! They go just underneath your armpit and it’s a tiny tiny whole. They are fine, I got quite attached to mine actually haha xx

One thing i dont know is if you have drains on a day case? Or is it only if you stay the night? And, Jemma, i think iv read that they just put them butterfly stitches/tape thingies on lol if you know what i mean? Cos its only a tiny hole. x

Hey xdodiex, Sorry not had a chance to get on here till now. My surgeon is mr kazzazi at doncaster. I’m size 8, 7 stone 9lb and 5’5, I’m a 32aa at mo and hope to be a C cup. Don’t want to be huge just enough so I don’t resemble an ironing board!!!! Where are you having yours done? x

    hi ladies,

i had mr k on the 14th may, i was only a day case and he used drains on me. . .

he will come round and see you, check whats in them, then the nurse will come take them out, its takes max 5 mins, they let the air out and pull, its a funny feeing, it feels like someone is rubbing their finger under your boob. . . then ir just pops out of the side, i had a tiny little pin prick red mark at first, but now almost 9 weeks post op, you wouldnt be able to tell i ever had them . . .xx
