Hi lady’s ????
I have my BA 8th march with Mr Traynor & I live approximately 1 hour 45 minutes away from Preston hospital where I’ll be getting my procedure done! Has anyone travelled home that far after or would I be better off booking a hotel for the night after having it done? I don’t know how I’ll be feeling, medication, pain etc or has anyone got any useful information for traveling home in the car
Hey, im not much help but my op is tomorrow morning and i am travelling home an hour and a half after.. Il try and let you know how it goes. Hopefully itl be okay!! XXX

I live just over an hour away. My nurse told me that they recommend for any journey over an hour to stay over. I told her that i dont want to do that and that if i needed to get back with no traffic its about 45 min. She said thats ok as long as they record what they have advised.
I had my op last Monday in Preston and live about an hour and 50 mins away. I stayed at the ibis hotel as I just felt better knowing the hospital was only a 2 min drive away. Plus I was really sick from the anesthetic so glad I then never had to do that long car journey home while feeling like that x
I’m having my op 2moz and also travelling home. I live worksop. I did originally book ibis but don’t like the idea of being away from kids.
I can let u no how the travel home is as ive read pot holes are a nightmare. X
I was at Preston last week & live nearly 2 hours away.. I went home after nearly 4 hours from coming round.. the drive back was fine & I stopped for a maccies on the way back lol! Everyone is different though & I recovered really quickly from the anaesthetic luckily xx
@imogen ???? You stopped for a McDonald’s hahahaaa you go girl x
@kelly I was going to book the same hotel, would be great if you could let me know ???? Good luck for tomorrow chick! Super excited for you x
@chloe that’s what I was thinking babe! I don’t have a clue how I’m going to be after the op & thinking a 2 mins drive to a hotel might be a better hospital & I’ll be a nervous rock anything went wrong too x
@louise thanks for the information chick! I’m going to bare that in mind ???? I live too far away for any problems to happen x
@poppy that would be great if you could ???? Thank you Hun! & good luck for tomorrow! Looking forward to seeing massive smiles x
Thank you everyone for responding! It’s lovely to receive the support & info from others x happy healing x
I had mine done on the 17th of Jan
Op was at around 5 pm so iw as discharged at 9:30 pm ish. the best thing was going home and getting in my own bed after a day of waiting around.
I live around 1 and a half hrs away maybe 2 depending on traffic, and the nurse said if I feel up to it thats fine as i was eating drinking ( ALOT) and i had no side affect from anything.
I changed my bedding that morning too so i got to get into my own bed with new pillows and fresh bedding. Was the best feeling and i felt so much more relaxed
Hey I had my op yesterday and I left London at about half 7 in the evening and the drive home was really smooth and easy as there wasn’t any traffic! My surgeon said the hour and half journey was fine! I had a lot of painkillers so I just laid there and I was fine. Make sure you have a v pillow behind you as that really helped Xx
I only drove back for hour n a bit. If you do have to drive home..wrap yourself up on duvet an a v pillow in the car. I did an didnt feel much.
My op was on 7th November in London, I live approx 2 hours away and travelled home the same day. I had a fresh dose of meds before leaving the hospital so the journey way fine. It’s mainly motorway for me so smooth and straight but I did have to divert using some A roads for about an hour which made me a bit achy and added 30 minutes to the journey. X
Thanks girls
Defiantly going to stock up on the pillows ???????? Also going to take a v-pillow too. Hope you are all healing well x
Hi Lisa, I had my op on 7th Nov and i went home the same day and i travelled nearly 2 hours. I was really sick after the op actually but I still got home ok. Make sure you get a V pillow they are amazing and i wouldnt have got through it without mine haha x
I had my op Monday. Came home but before I left i said i was willing to travel back if need be. He was fine about it. Said nothing life threatening can happen just a precaution. X
I travelled home after my surgery, pain wise I was okay cos i had some oramorph. Walked 10mins to the car park cos there isn’t one a Fitzroy and even popped into Sainsbury’s cos I was hungry. I’m about an hour away with no traffic but it wasn’t an issue, no one really said anything to e about it x
Just a quick question, I know it’s better if you can have your surgery with a local company but I really want to go with mya and It’s about 2 hours away from me if I went to the London surgery clinic. For your post op checkups do I have to go back to London or do you have them at your local mya clinic (mine is 45 mins away) thank you xx
Thank you @clp I’d prefer to be home in my own bed ???? I’m definitely going to top up on the pillows & v-pillow, lots of pain relief before setting off too, I’m going to keep my options open x
Hi @amy
I think you can have your check ups at your local Mya clinic but I’m not 100% sure of this! Hopefully one of these lovely girls will help you on that one x
Thanks everyone ???? Much appreciated x
