    Hey Ladies,

I’m booking my Ba today and I’m so worried about recovery time. I’ve got a 2 year old and my parents can’t help much. My partner will be there on surgery & 2 days post op. then my Nan will be with me on day 3 po. Then my mum 4 day po. Then day 5 & 6 my little girl should go to nursery in the morning but I’d have to drive. Do you think thats do able? I’m having unders & I’m really starting to worry. I really don’t want to postpone it till Christmas but im starting to panic I won’t be ok.

    Any advice would be great.

Honestly… No! I had overs and uplift with no real pain but driving it still hurts slightly going in 5th and reverse! And I’d say on day 5 I felt not 100% to go anywhere! I drove at 9 days po was ok then to go to nurse check up. Your also not insured till a week po could your little girl miss 2 days of nursery or get a taxi or lift from someone? Xx

Well she can but then I’ve got to look after her so though it would be better for her to go. I couldn’t get a lift maybe could get a bus. I’m just so worried I won’t cope looking after my 2 year old. Even considering not having it done full stop. X

    DVLA Notes to GPs.

Your insurance company should be informed about your operation. Some companies will not insure drivers for a number of weeks after surgery, so it’s important to check what your policy says. Driving too soon may invalidate your insurance cover.

Policy retstrictions range from 24 hours to 1 month, for classes within the minor classification. For which Cosmetic proceedures fits.

I wouldn’t have been able to drive day 5-6 still couldn’t lift my arms up enough to shave my armpits properly. Lol. Also I don’t think you are covered to drive on your insurance till a week after your op. the nurse said I wasn’t allowed to drive till after my one week check, then she will give you the all clear. I think you should talk to you pc to see what MYA’s policy is and also maybe your insurer just incase! Xx

See its only about a 10 min drive. Haven’t spoken to my insurance but deffently will. My pc said that I’d should be fine driving. I don’t know see how it goes. Can always get a cab or bus a suppose. I’m just so worried about the recovery time. With having a little girl I obviously can’t just stay in bed for a week. Nightmare. X

The rules are very clear, your Dr should give you guidance which they will only if asked. What my Hubby said (A Dr) was you need to be free from all reasonable pain and be able to have full function around your car to drive normally.

The Dr`s consent and advice only give you the ability to drive and not the necessary insurance cover, the two are very different.

Each insurance company is different, so you need to either check your policy document or telephone your insurance company.

If you drive five days after your BA, you may be free from all reasonable pain, but you may not be covered. A quick call to your insurer will clarify your individual cover position.
