    Hi

Can anyone advise approx how long untill you feel ok to drive and start lifting I have 3 children and need to start taking them to school again also have a poorly baby who just wants me to pick him up and cuddle him. Be most grateful for any advise. I am 6 days post op and don’t feel in too much pain but don’t feel I can lift yet.

hi jada,i havnt had mine done yet, goin in the 7th december but i have a young baby and was asking the same question.the surgeon told me that the first week you shouldnt pick them up and after that if you really have to then its ok but to try and think about how your insides are still knitting together when your doing it so be careful.he said you might feel fine with no pain but your insides are still healing so just to b careful.im not sure on the driving but i imagine that would b fine, hopes this helps a bit,xxx

Thanks Leonie had to pick the baby (16mths) up during the night last night and although it didn’t hurt it didn’t feel right either I am sure this is my body telling me I am not quite ready it’s the tops of the boobies that feel sore and not the incisions so I will try not to lift for a few more days. I will keep you updated on my progress as it’s so difficult when you have young children.

    Hello!!

I’m 7 days post op and I drove to work today and it felt ok but I struggled in all honesty. I couldn’t get the car into 5th gear cos it pulled my chest funny and I also couldn’t turn the stearing wheel as quick. As for picking up my 22 month old daughter I still haven’t done that yet, I had an uplift and ba so have more scaring than so don’t want to chance it just yet!

    Happy healing and good luck!

    Samii xx

hi ladies, i first picked my 18m old up 9 days post op, not to hold on hip but at least to get in & out of cot and highchair etc. i drove 7 days post op but also struggled with 5th gear and steering like you samii, for my checkup i deciced to drive but drove my partners automatic, it was great – put a pillow on my lap, 2 1/2 hours there and back and that was 8 days after ba.
i’m now 12 days post op and everything is fine, can easily pick up my daughter, driving is fine etc. i think its more the thought of it, i wasn’t reaching up into the top shelf in cupboard as i ‘thought’ it would hurt, but acctually it doesnt.
you’ll be feeling like your old selves soon xxxx
