Hi Girls, I’ve been advised by Dr Fiumara not to exercise for 3 months after the surgery. Has anyone got similar advice? I can just cope with 6/8 weeks, but 3 months?! Not certain if this is necessary. Would love to know what you think. I’m having 250/275 cc partials.

I think it depends on the form of exercise and how rigorous it is. The nurse advised that I take light exercise after 6 weeks and build up from there (not hitting weights at gym or anything straight away). I asked a similar question about swimming earlier because I’m not sure how soon I can get back in the pool. Hope someone can be more helpful than me! xx

Hey girls, I’m 10 weeks post op and I started light around 4 weeks post op I think (legs & bum). After 6 weeks I went back to the gym 5 days a week and gradually started doing everything I did pre op. I felt like I lost a bit of upper body strength in the beginning but I’ve eased myself back into weights and I feel amazing! 3 months sounds too long xxx

@kikij87 Thanks Kristina, this is so helpful. I go to the gym 5 days a week so as you can imagine the idea of not being able to exercise for so long is very worrying. I also play tennis and hope to be able to get back to it after 8 weeks. How is your upper body strength now? Are you able to do press up, pull ups, bench press, etc. I’ve heard mixed opinions with regard to upper body workouts and some women said they can’t do any chest exercises anymore as it distorts implants. I’m so glad to hear that you got back to exercise and feel so good.

@sophiev I was like that in the beginning but I also was in a lot of pain the first few weeks so gym was the last thing on my mind haha! The main reason why I felt like I lost upper body strength was because I didn’t do any upper body exercises for so long and nothing to do with the op itself, since I’ve started again it has been fine and I have realised that muscle memory is an amazing thing cause I’ve got my body back really quick. Muscle distortion scares me a bit but it’s one of the risks of having partials/unders and exercising. My trainer had unders 20 years ago and she used to compete and have had no problems so hopefully we won’t either. I bench press slighty lighter weights for now but I can easily do press ups and pull ups xxx

@kikij87 Thanks Kristina, this is very encouraging. I hope I can recover quickly and get back into it. Really appreciate your advice.
