Feel disheartened

Does anyone else think MYA aren’t great at communication?! I’ve just NOW been informed, after speaking to different girls and all telling me I can have my surgery sooner, that because I was referred for counselling back in February (even though I didn’t go) I have to wait 6 months to have the surgery. I’ve been off medication for 6 months now, which I knew i had to be, but I can’t believe they’ve only just mentioned counselling now! I’m so disappointed ????

Oh no! That’s awful for you.
At what stage did they finally tell you that you cannot continue with the surgery until 6 months is up?
I have sent my medical summary off to mya & have a nasty feeling I may be in the same boat as you soon as I was offered talking therapy which is shown on my med summary which like you, I refused but it still shows! X

Literally when I wrote this post!!! They never mentioned it at the first consultation, only about medication. So all this time I’ve been speaking to people at mya that have been telling me yeah you can have it sooner don’t worry and today they told me I can’t!! 🙁 x

Can your gp (if it was through a gp) not write a letter to state you didn’t go through with the counselling and are fit for surgery? Other than that I don’t know if there’s much else you can do ???? x

Doesn’t matter that I didn’t go through with it ???? there isn’t anything I can do which sucks but hey ho xx

I feel for you, although my PC was great, when I met my surgeon he basically said no point in seeing me come back in at least four months, I cried the whole way home, I ended up going elsewhere I’ve had no problems and am really happy with my results xx

That’s awful to get your hopes up, then tell you last minute. That’s getting me worried now I have consultation next week and was planned to book the earliest slot available. However last month I went to my doctors and talking therapy was offered. It turns out I just had a hormonal imbalance on the pill I was on and haven’t needed the counselling for depression that I thought I had, but still has it on my records that it was offered.

Jamie where did you end up going if you don’t mind me asking? May need to book a backup, as I really want it done by mid August to recover before I start back to work. X x x
