FINALLY!!

Hey Ladies..here is my story so far.

I got to the Highfield at 7:30am, I signed some forms at reception then got escorted to my room. A couple of people came to see me, the first lady was a girl who worked in the canteen to take my food and drink order for after the op. I ordered a cheese sandwich on brown bread, coffee and an orange juice. The second lady who came to see me was the nurse who did some general tests like blood pressure etc. The surgeon, Helena, was the third person who came to see me and she did some drawings and took some pictures. The fourth person was a Doctor who told me about the anesthetic then a coupel of various nurses.

I was second on the list therefore I waited until 10am. I walked down to theatre with the nurse and was put to sleep. The next thing I knew I was waking up and felt great! (I was back in the room at 11ish).

I was wheeled back to my room and came round. Helena (the surgeon) came to see me and to check the work she had done so that was nice.

I was really thirsty so I drank plenty of water. I needed a wee so my Mum got the nurse and I had a wee, she did some more general tests and asked the kitchen staff to bring me my lunch order. The food sandwich and salad was good, although I couldn’t eat much of the sandwich as my mouth was that dry!! I asked for more coffee and the lady happily brought me more.

The staff at the Highfield were really friendly and helpful.

At about 2ish I started to feel lightheaded, a bit sick and quite tired but I just wanted to go home so I could relax and sleep. I was discharged at about 2:45ish, I brought some sick bowls and a sick blanket (just in case I was sick) I felt fine in the car I dozed in and out of sleep and now i’m home just feeling tired

I’ve had a really good experience at the Highfield although I could have had a bit more information or advice about what to do if I experience problems at home. Although i’m assuming that this could be because MYA are ‘in charge’ of us now. I do have all my emergency numbers just in case but fingers crossed i’m fine xxxxxx
