So my nurse has told me I can now do everything I did pre op including getting back into the gym. I still feel nervous to lift even though I feel completely capable again. I guess it’s a case of starting to slowly build back up. I’ve been told not to specifically train chest unil12 weeks post op but everything else ok. How did everyone go getting back into gym and lifting?
HOw many weeks po are you?
I’ve been walking 3 miles a day but I’m only 2 week po. I’m a runner and do a bit of everything and it’s killing me x
I’ve been walking on treadmill since 2 weeks post op too xx
@dominiquegillett90gmail-com I’m due to do total warrior on the 23rd of June I’ll be 10 weeks post op and really unsure wether or not I’ll be able to do it. I’m at my second consultation and pre op on Wednesday so I’ll ask my surgeon and nurse.x
@louisr I’ll be doing TW 16 weeks post op! Good luck and let me know how you get on x
I’ll be 6WPO on Sunday I’m not sure what I can and can’t do at the gym?? What about swimming? X
I’m now 4 months post op and back in the gym like nothing happened. I weight train 4/5 times a week always have done. I found weeks 6-12 fine in the gym bit a few moves where my chest became involved felt uncomfortable so I stopped. Start with light weights again like ur a beginner and increase if it feels ok to. Things like lat pull downs felt weird for a while and shoulder press. I’m not sure I would have been doing a mud run or assault course type thing at 10/12 weeks post op. Upper body will be very weak, but everyone’s recovery is different and it is hard to tell. Best advice is to take it slow and build up your weights.
