Getting my travel expenses is like pulling teeth!

Sorry to moan but getting my travel expenses is a nightmare. It’s over 4 weeks since my post op and I’ve chased them and there’s still no sign. Last time it took 2 weeks for one lot but then ages for the rest. I wouldn’t mind it taking a while if I was told a time scale. I also had to chase my 12 week appointment when I was told I’d be called to book it and I’ve got a complaint in against park hill Doncaster hospital and was told a time scale for that which has lapsed and surprise surprise I’ve not heard. Getting really annoyed tbh. Ive spent what for me is a snall fortune and I’m not getting the service I expected. My pc is lovely but it seems head office aren’t up to much. Sorry for the rant.

Hi Sizzynat, I’m guessing I will have the same problem?! on my Consultation back in february i got told they would provide Transport to and from hospital. then i booked surgery and was informed they had now changed it! and I had to provide own transport there! my Mam is coming along with me so already having to book her into a hotel! i just think for the price of Surgery with MYA for them then to say that i have to provide my own transport now is shocking! if I had not already paid deposit etc I would definately look else where! i chose MYA because my PC in Lovely but I think the way they change things so soon is pathetic! i am seriously starting to have doubts now!!! x

I have also been promised petrol money and now Im really worried I’ll be left waiting like you girls. Im getting married in September and need that money! I have to have a re-op due to their mistake so the least they can do is make sure I get my petrol! Worried now x

Well i was offered Transport to and from Hospital on my Consultation now its changed!! I know Transform still provide transport and they are cheaper!!! wishing i had of gone elsewhere now x

Mines a re-op cos they messed up so obviously I will be getting petrol money.

Im just worried I’ll be waiting and waiting for it as can’t afford to. My fiance is so annoyed as he wants it up front! x

you should get it upfront!! like ive got to book train tickets to get there! which was NOT discussed on consultation. x

I’ve not had my op yet, its in August – when do they tell you about it? Should I ask or will I just be expected to pay the petrol myself?! xx

MYA don’t offer travel expenses so you’re not gonna get them unless exceptional circumstances ladies. You will have to get to the op and back yourself.

Mine is an exceptional circumstance which is why Im getting petrol x

Well when I had my Consultation Tracy MY PC said travel was included to and from OP so i booked surgery to then find out they had changed it. My PC did say I would be getting picked up from Home on the morning of surgery. x

Really Amy? That’s strange because I had my original op 8 months ago and they didn’t offer it then. As far as I was aware they have never offered it. If that’s what you were told then I would definately push for it then as the pc’s shouldn’t be making things up to get your custom x

yeah i know a few girls on my friends list on here was was provided transport on the morning of OP. My PC is looking into this. just feels like ive been trying to sort this out for weeks! my OP isnt until 4 weeks time but my mam is coming along with me so we are keen to book hotel for her and train tickets if nessecary! dont know if i would have to get a certain train at certain time so they can work it around admission time! xx

You get petrol expenses for you pre and post op’s (at least that’s what I’ve been getting). Thank you Mya mod. I’ve just had a phone call to tell me money should be there tomorrow. Just my complaint response to deal with now. My op was march 9th and I complained only a matter of days later so it’s pretty shocking really.

I’ve never had a penny – my first op was 8 months ago and I had to travel 3 hours for every appointment I had including my op and I was told by my pc that they didn’t pay for travel!

This is so upsetting to read that other people have had it.

I mean, Im getting it now as I need a reop but so I should – bet it’s a fight for me to get it though. My fiance is making me ask for it upfront as he doesn’t trust them and it’s all coming out of our wedding pot! We’ve been arguing so much about this there might not even be a bloody wedding. Stress stress major stress x

Wow this is shocking!!! I’ve travelled so many miles back and forth to my clinic and spent hundreds on petrol, parking and many courses of very expensive antibiotics and anti inflamatories and other things I’ve had to take since my op. Been to the clinic about 8 times since the op due to complications and have been to Doncaster twice! And to top all this off, my surgeon now doesn’t come to my clinic anymore so they want to me travel to Leeds to see him!!!!! Ridiculous.

I think it’s good to know that if you go with MYA that you could be paying hundreds on top of what your quote is. I saved up for years for my op because of my low self esteem after having kids. It took me that long to be able to afford it and it’s as though MYA think I’m made of money. Aftercare is good but it comes at a high price!! Sorry for the rant ladies xx

Still not got my flipping expenses! Rang Mya this morning and the woman who can chase it isn’t in until tomorrow. It’s just constant waiting grrrrrr! Really thought it would be sorted after they rang me last week.

so sorry to here your awful experiences. defo persevere with you complaints and travel money. i assume there is a lot of paper work (checks and balances)when it comes to refund.

If u live in london and get the op in preston does that mean all post op appointments has to be in preston? even if u live in london? xx

Post ops are done at the clinic rather than the hospital and it’s usually your local one. However my 2 ‘local’ ones are 80 mile round trips. I STILL haven’t got the expenses after being told id get them last Tuesday (not the one just gone the one before). I waited for a call back Monday and Tuesday this week after chasing it. I then called twice yesterday and waited for a call back and it never came and still no money. It’s ridiculous. The appointment I’m claiming for was April 20th! I’m getting so cross! What is wrong with these people?! Sort yourselves out!

All of the girls that were meant to have mario but now have had to chamge are gettin hotel and travel expenses, i was hoping id get it upfront !! x

Still no payment………..this is just ridiculous. It is over 6 weeks since my appointment. I keep getting told its been processed over and over and I’ve checked the bank details to make sure they’ve got them right and still nothing. It’s so frustrating! It’s such a simple thing to do.

Well ladies I finally got my travel expenses…..exactly 7 WEEKS after the appointment claimed for. I’m relieved but disgusted. I had to make a ridiculous amount of phone calls plus moaning on here to get anything done. I’ve my 12 week check up on Monday. Wish me luck getting my expenses back for that. As its an 80 mile round trip and the cost of petrol at the minute, have to say I could really do with them in advance but NO CHANCE of that.

I still think you were lucky to get travel re-imbursed at all. Loads of girls on here, including myself, weren’t offered this! My clinic is 3 hours away and I’ve spent a fortune.

They paid my hotel for me because iv got the confirmation for that frm them so i know im safe with that but what would i do with travel expenses just hand receipts in? Xx

They don’t need receipts. They work it out based on mileage and they must have a standard rate. I’m not lucky to get travel expenses. My pc told me I am entitled to travel expenses. It’s just how they do things as far as I’m aware. It’s not special to me or anything. And if they say I should get them then I expect to get them and without the problems I’ve had. I’m just sat waiting to have my 3 month check with my surgeon now. I got a phone call half an hour before was about to set off on an hour and a half journey altering my appointment time by 2 hours. Wasn’t impressed. My opinion of Mya is going down all the time. I expected a private hospital experience to be so much better than this. Maybe my standards are just too high?
