My hubby who works in a hospital theatre said sometimes they put tape across your eyes when you’re under the GA to stop grit getting into them. So if you have mascara, lashes etc, it will interfere with that process.

Also the theatre has to be sterile and minimise cross infection.

    Menu

your not supposed to have anything on, as its unhygienic :( tints and stuff are ok, but nothing else, why would you want to risk an infection, when afterwards you really wont care what you look like for a few hours anyways xx

    Menu

yeah i read somewere they put tape on ya eyes, n yh i supose if your eyes run or something you ll have all the mascara and that in your eyes, and that alone is very uncomfortable xx

When under a GA, our eyes stay open. If they were left like this, they get dry and

grit etc would get into them, risking infection.

So to protect our eyeballs, they close our eyelids and tape them shut.

Also, the point of keeping the theatre sterile, so no foreign objects like

    falsies or makeup.
