I have a nuiscence murmer that comes and goes mostly its noticeable when I’ve been pregnant but the nurse wants one anyway to be safe which I understand, the problem is it’s taken a wk of me mithering for my pc n clinic reception to figure out the fax machine isn’t working so that’s the reason my doctor hadn’t recieved the request. I’ve had them in the past quite a few times and I know it can take upto 3 wks for an appt to have one it my op is in 3 wks n I go away in 2 so I’m short on time and I’m freaking out thinking its gona be too late :-( X

Keep keep keep phoning both docs and mya to get it sorted. Call every day and even go in to the doctors surgery if need be. I did this because I had hassle getting it all sorted with blood issues xx

I’ve rang both everyday and had an appt with a nurse today at doctors so I checked again, put in my own request for ECG and rang my pc. She then said they would scan and email it but my docs don’t use an email address so the practice manager then gave us his email for a one off one time only use to get the request so now I’m waiting on my doc signing it off and letting me have one, sorting an appt ASAP or of they say no it means paying £70 n having to get someone to take me to Rochdale to have on which I don’t want to have to do as I don’t really have £70 spare :-( I just want it doing though so if I have to then there’s not much I can do about it really. I’m ringing first thing in the morning though to chase it up X

I had to have an ECG. I had minor heart surgery two years ago which cured a minor heart problem. I had to pay 75.00 but The nurse said without ECG the aneastist wouldn’t give me a GA. Also put my mind at rest good luck! X

Hi, I have a rested heart beat of 111 and despite already having three ECG’s, MYA insisted I needed one (the form asks if you’ve ever had an ECG of which I replied yes).

My Doctors said that because my surgery was cosmetic, I couldn’t get it done there, despite the fact that my own Doctors can do ECG’s, even though I offered to pay. Doctor said that if I had a heart problem, I could get it done.

I then phoned MYA and they advised of a private clinic, Nuffield (I’m not far from Leeds).

Nuffield advised that I needed a recommendation letter from my Doctor, so I phoned up, made the request, two days later picked up the letter, phoned Nuffield and because it was private, I actually had it done that day.

The ECG tracks 10 seconds only. They gave me the report and I handed it into MYA. Nuffield will also get the cardiologist to write a report, so once I got the letter from the Doctor, I got seen immediately and it cost me £55.00. MYA won’t go through with the op unless you get one done and you also need to allow time for MYA to give it to your anaethitist for him/her to look at and ensure your’e fit for surgery.

Good luck and don’t worry, but you need to get the ball rolling. MYA will advise you where to get your ECG done.
