I had my initial and surgeon consultation with Ben Chew for a BA back in February and have been saving up for a surgery date in August. Now, since the email saying the Glasgow Clinic was closing, I have been trying to get a last minute date arranged after managing to scrape together the remaining money borrowed from family.

I can honestly say that since my consultations I have not had any contact at all from MYA ( with the exception of the generic clinic closure email with a dead end contact email address ) I have been calling them constantly to try and get something arranged. The majority of the staff at the clinic have already left and so I have only been able to speak to Karen who has her phone immediately diverting to voicemail most days. I have contacted MYA head office to try and contact the clinic through another number but the ONLY number they have for the clinic is Karens- quite worrying.

I finally managed to speak to Karen on Friday at 12pm who promised me she would look into Dr Chew’s availability and get back to me ASAP. I had to chase it up yet again at 5pm and was assured I would be phoned back first thing on Monday and yet again her phone was diverted to voicemail for the ENTIRE day.

It is now Tuesday and the clinic closes on Friday. I managed to speak to her this morning at 10am and was again assured that she would call me back within the hour as she had just arrived at her office and hadn’t had a chance to check her emails. Needless to say, over 3 hours later I am still waiting on that call back!

I am sure that as the project leader, Karen is very busy this week with less staff to share the workload but I feel completely abandoned by MYA and frankly shocked that I would be left hanging for this length of time over such an important issue.

All I wanted to know is if I could book a date with Ben Chew, through MYA before they leave Glasgow.

Should this question take three working days to answer?

I don’t take life changing surgery or spending thousands of pounds lightly and after reading all of the positive stories from girls on this forum I can’t believe how I have been treated. They have done nothing but waste my time and literally could not care less.

    Hi Mya mod,

I have just called Karen again and spoken with her, she has told me there is no availability left and so I now have no choice but to move on and begin the process again with another company.

    Thank you for responding though,

    Nicola

Hey, I just want to say I had the best experience with the Glasgow clinic, Karen and the team could not have done more for me. Its rubbish that they can’t fit you in with Ben now, but I’m sure Karen would have done her best. Also, Ben is only at the clinic one day a week I think so 3 working days probably isn’t that unreasonable for Karen to have gotten in touch with him to find out if they can fit you in.

I have never read any negative feedback on the Glasgow clinic and I think it’s such a shame that mya have decided to close it down on the grounds that it isn’t busy enough, it’s only been open for a year and a half so hasn’t been given much of a chance to determine how busy it will be x
