Hiya Ladies,
I’ve been persuaded to go away for a few days to Egypt on May 27th (day after my uni exams-YAY!!! BUT only 16 days after my op)…
Will I be ok to travel by this time? I’ve been told it’s only a 5 hour journey..
And what are the implications of me travelling before I’m advised to do so?
Gabby xx
Hi Hunn! People go get surgery abroad and fly back in a week or two I’m sure you’ll be fine!! Have a great holiday and happy healing x
5 hours is a long time for 2 week old boobies, i think a 2 hour flight is ok, but anything over 4 hours you have to wait 6 weeks i think. xx
Yhe hun shaz is right. I would ask ur surgeon xx
i was told to wait 3 weeks short haul and 6 weeks long haul x
I would ask sugeon re flight (Its not the boobies you should worry about, its the chances of Deep Vain Trombosis) and also keep in mind you most likely wont be able to use the pool or swim in sea. Scars are still quite raw at 16 days, and the risk of infection is high!! I passed on a spa weekend due to the risk of infection at 3 weeks post op, as I was told by nurse I shouldnt use any facilities as the risk of infection from pools, saunas and steamrooms was very high!!
I did however fly a 1.5 hour flight around 3 weeks post op and no problems.
x
I went in my bf’s hot tub last night for half an hour, i’m just over 3 weeks post op…do you think i will be ok…didn’t even think about risk of infection as i was drunk
xx
im going to egypt in june, its actually 5 hour flight one way and 6 hours the other way (odd i know) the nurse told my 6 weeks i had to wait b4 going ill be 4 months po by then though xx
I asked about that and they advised, due to risk of infection, you cannot use publuic bathing facilities for 6 weeks. So sure the flight wont be a problem but it wont be very comfortable holiday for you in that heat not being able to cool in the pool! Good luck with your op tho hun! I have mine on the 23rd! x
Im going to Egypt on 13th June and i wanted to book my Ba for early May but decided to wait now until after my holiday, x
I didn’t even think about DVT!!
but I’ve never suffered from it ever before.
I’ll call up my PC tomorrow and ask her, but I definately didn’t think about using the pool, it was mainly the sunbathing I was iffy about.. I know I’ll have to keep the scars out of the sun, but surely I could get one of those bikini tops which are slightly longer, almost like a mini tank top?
Seems like there maybe more cons right now and after waiting for so long to have the op etc etc, I wouldn’t want a mini break away to ruin them!
Gabby xx
They say wait 7 weeks, I would defo not go on a 5 hour flight 2 weeks post op, a lot of risks etc , just not worth taking.
Wait at least 5 weeks I’d say !! Xxx
God PLEASE Dont its not the cleanest of places iver! Big risk, that u wont be covered for sweaty scars, cant get in the pool Sunburnin the scars etc bad idear hun xx
errrrmmmmm… let me get the priorities straight here….
WHOOO are you going to egypt with you jammy cow?? Lol I wasn’t informed about this
I’m off to USA about 7/8 weeks after babe but I wouldn’t have risked doing it before, that’s why I booked my op for when I did. (Oh and our May ball falls conveniently a few weeks after
) I reeeeaaallly think you need to talk to them about it though, wouldn’t want you having a stroke and abandoning me next year
xx
Oh yeah and I’ve been to Egypt hun, check out my FB pics, agree with hush.. It’s not v clean xx
you can’t do a 5 hour flight that soon, the risk of DVT is still too high and don’t forget DVT can kill you, is a holiday worth that???
Also you won’t be able to have your boobs in the sun at all as you can’t go in the sun for at least 6 weeks as the skin is soo stretched that they will just burn!
looks like egypt is a bit too risky hun
xx
I had to cancel my holiday and rebook it as i was strongly advised not to go until atleast 6wks.
And like some girls have mentioned theres a great risk of infection when using public facilities regardless it being a top hotel or not.xx
DON’T DO IT!!!! I went to egypt a few years ago and apart from the general uncleanliness, the mosquito bites and the fact you won’t be able to go in the pool, there is also a big risk of the water in general. You aren’t even allowed to brush your teeth with the stuff that comes out of the tap over there, you have to use bottled water. Plus everyone i have known has got a stomach bug whilst they have been over there (probably from the water) so imagine that plus healing from major surgery!! Plus there is the risk of DVT, i know it sounds dramatic and stuff you read about in take a break but like ros says, this sort of stuff could kill you! Is it really worth it?? Also ive just thought, firstly will MYA cover your aftercare if you go against their advice to go on holiday and would you be able to get any holiday insurance to cover you so soon after? Chances are the answer would be no and then if you dont get it or its invalid then medical bills can go into the thousands!!
Sorry hun, dont mean to be a party pooper or to scare you, but im guessing you have waited a long time to have a BA and you are paying alot of money for it, i wouldn’t want you to ruin it for the sake of a couple of weeks away which you could do when you are all better x x
This is why I love this forums and love the women even more!
I just needed a firm kick up the rectum. Definately not gonna go now! And Miss Jessbell, ummmm, it was just sprung on me on Friday!! All expenses paid!! And when is our May Ball? I guess I can enjoy the weather from my bedroom window
So no sun for 6/7 weeks? Meant to be off to Barcelona in June! Damn it! I clearly haven thought this through. Thanks you for help ladies
Xx
U shud definitely wait 6weeks, don’t get me wrong sharm el sheikh in Egypt is Amazing if u pay for a good hotel, I work in a travel agent and if u pay cheap for Egypt thats what u r going to get and the dirty places in Egypt are extremely dirty. Don’t risk it. It’ll b scoarchin aswel so ul really sans b in the pool. I’m going to Mexico but hooked 10weeks po. And I’m still worrying about that being so soon xxx
Naomi hun dont worry im going to florida in exactly to the day 6 months after my op (op march 23 fly 23 sep!!) and im worried ahha… X
Aw im just a worrier .. aww ull love Florida , its fab !!
When I had my first ba I had it done in sydney n flew to London 2 weeks after.. Everything was fine. Surgeon was aware of situation n was ok with it.
I’m going sharm on 21st April will be 5 weeks 1 day after my BA and I was told by surgeon that as long as I don’t expose scars and don’t soak in pool for a long time then I would be ok to go! Swimmng will be fine and the hotel im going to is a 5star and when I went at Xmas i could not believe how clean it was! I dont intend on leaving hotel so won’t be going to any dirty parts. I’m not worried just gonna enjoy my new bikini boobies!
Oh but would not have risked going at 16 days!
