    Hi girls,

6 sleeps left and feel physically sick when I think about being put to sleep.

    Is the needle painful?

    How long does it take?

    What does it feel like?

Could I wake up during the op?

Please help girls I’m scared! Xx

    Hi Jess!

If you ask for the numbing cream on your hands you won’t feel the needle at all. Op takes 45-60 mins and you just feel like you’ve had a really, really good sleep. I felt like I had been asleep for hours and hours. You can’t wake up during the op as they drip feed you with anaesthetic and then don’t remove the drip till the op is over and they want you to wake up. Honestly, you will be amazed at how easy it all is, nothing to worry about at all. I would do it ten times over, I loved the experience from start to finish and I have zero pain threshold, I’m the biggest wimp. x

hey hun, i was exactly the same yesterday, i wanted to vomit at the thought of the needle but jus tell them u want the gel on ur hands to numb it first, that stuff works a treat, i never even FELT them touching my hand, i felt the cold swoosh go up my arm and a horrid taste in the back of my throat and i then woke up in recovery!! honestly sweetie dont worry bout the needle as long as u ask for the gel u wont feel a thing =) xxxx its honestly not as bad as u think =D xx

Youl’ll be fine :-) I was panicking abotut the GA aswell but it theres nothing to worry about.

lol when then they were doing it and I had the mask over my face it felt like it was taking forever and not working, my heart was racing and the anesthetist said “ooohhh you must be nervous your heart rate is going really fast” well duhh! ha anyway as it was taking so long I said “how long does it take” (I didn’t think it was working) but the next think I remember was waking up and it was all done! To me it felt like id blinked it all happened so fast.

You’ll be fine :) I had mine yesterday. The nurse and anaesthetist chat away to you and you don’t notice them doing it! I barely felt the needle go in then after that I didn’t feel a thing. They put a nice snug blanket over you before too to make you really comfy. I was mid-sentence with the nurse, then the nicest feeling comes over you and you just drift off. Then when you wake up it just feels like you’ve had a lovely long sleep :) x x x
