When I woke up I woke up in the recovery room with like 3 other people who were all doped-up on anaesthetic. I woke up and kept trying to get up and take my oxygen mask off, I dont know how many times the nurses pushed me back down and put the mask back on me and kept saying “just lay back and relax” they were really patient with me though and I couldnt help it because I was all drowsy and confused and couldnt understand what was going on for a little while….

I felt strange, a bit ill, took me a while to eat my dinner after the surgery as sitting-up with my eyes open made me feel ill, so I had to keep lying back for a bit then take another few bites of food until I felt ill again, then lay back again, then eat again etc etc etc. until I ate it all, I didnt throw up or anything and was able to go to the toilet on my own and get up and struggle to get my clothes on as I couldnt really bend down lol. But then when I woke up the next day in my own bed the pain kinda hit me lol and pain was worst from day 1-3 bit better but still very sore from day 4/5 then after that it gradually got better and better, I had to take 2 weeks off though, there was no way I could have gone back to uni after 1 week….

First thing i remember is them telling me to shuffle back onto the bed in my room, while one of the nurses strapped me into my bra. I remember wishing everyone would leave me alone and stop making me do things, then I starting throwing up everywhere, lol. ich!!

That was basically the start of me being ill for the rest of the day. Got out my operation at about 10.20 and didn’t get to go home til 6pm due to falling asleep/being sick. Couldn’t even keep my water/toast down. I felt soooo much better when I got outside and home. My fiance had to argue with the nurse a bit to let me leave tho… oops.

On the bright side… this is only for one day! It’s managable. Today I’m just feeling very restrictive, can’t move my upper torso much and it feels like some1 has punched me in the throat… strangely enough. My surgeon said the brain can get confused with where the pain is so must just be because of that..

Hi Jobrooke, try not to worry yourself. everyone reacts differently to the anaesthetic but they look after you really well at the hospital. I was a little groggy but all in all I felt fine. The nurses couldnt do enough and the food at the hospital was gorgeous! Just make sure you rest loads after and take it easy. You will be fine. good luck with everything. xxx
