I feel like i can handle the pain and discomfort but i’m worried i’ll not get much sleep as i always sleep curled up in a ball on my side lol. maybe i’ll just be soo exhausted it wont matter??

Sleeping upright sucks hun, but as long as you got a v pillow and lots of other pillows you can get comfy. Good luck with your op xxx

Pillow under bum, great tip I was given, stops you sliding down. You’ll prob find it hard at first but when you do fall asleep you slide down and wake up, then that wakes you up and so on it goes! You don’t need to be totally upright, just at an angle, I put 3 pillows behind me and rested the v pillow on top, that way if I turned my head to the side I had something to rest my head on and it wasn’t so bad at all. When I was allowed to lie flat again I found it hard to sleep and had to slowly lower myself back down!

The first thing I wanted to do when I woke up after the op was roll on my side, the nurse kept having to stop me, then I’d go back to sleep, only to wake up and try again lol.

I thought this too before my op 4 days ago. But you really do get used to it. Many pillows will help you. Plus, laying on your back actually hurts you because of the pressure and trying to get up. My partner still has to help me get in and out of bed! I have to admit when we go to bed and I’m still sitting up when we turn the light out I feel like I’m not going to sleep and I’m on watch! lol. I also found putting a pillow around your head makes me feel like I’m laying down, or like a blanket. So when you are half asleep, it makes no difference. Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it. Some girls even say they now prefer to be propped up, when before they used to sleep in a ball!

I slept in my armchair with pillows and my v pillow for 6 days so I was upright. I had pain killers too so slept on and off. Was easier getting up and I didn’t have to worry about my fella knocking into me. I’m sure you will find someday of sleeping with your pillows. I practiced before my op to see what was best for me. Good luck Hun. Xx
