I had my 7 week check last week and I’m healing well. Nurse said in fine to go back to the gym but to take it easy and probably wait til my 12 week check to go back to classes. I will wait if I really have to but I’m sure Mr Traynor said I could go back after 6 weeks. I hate hate hate the gym, I don’t burn enough calories and classes really keep me motivated. Did any of you girls go back sooner or get told you could?? Think I’m gonna ring my PC tomorrow and ask her to ask the man himself. Just using the normal gym is killing me, especially with having put on 9lbs!!! Eeuurrgghh!! Xx

Hi Amy! I went to see my PS for a 3 week check up today (I had unders to take me from a 32A to 32D… and still growing..) and he said it was totally fine to go back to cardio ie running/exercise bike but NO upper body work whatsoever. I was a bit gutted because I love my Ashtanga yoga so that is a no-no for at least another 4 weeks and I live in fear of having a fat back… I have invested in an Enell bra from boobydoo to protect my new assets now I’ve had the all clear to hit the pavements again (not the most attractive or comfortable garment, but certainly seems to stop anything from moving). So maybe still take it easy with any upper body stuff, but you can do all the lower body movement. Be kind to yourself, you know if you work hard it will only take you a few weeks to shift those extra pounds so it’s not worth risking spoiling your new boobies for. Hope this helps a bit. I know it is SOOO frustrating not being able to exercise – I was getting ‘running envy’ just seeing people out running whilst I was incapacitated!

Yeah im 8 weeks post op now and went back to the gym this week just on the cross trainer and treadmill for power walking up hill cos i HATE running and im also doing leg and ab work which my nurse told me was ok. Not doing anything upper body though. I was chatting to my friend before who had a BA last year and she seems to remember it was light gym at 6 weeks then after the ok from the surgeon at 12 weeks i can start classes again. It is so frustrating but when you put it like that it really isnt worth ruining my new boobs for another month and a couple of pounds that i will lose soon enough. I am getting some serious gym envy though, never thought that would happen! lol x

Well done you, just keep on moving, that’s what I say – even if it’s just a quick 10 min power walk! Completely agree that the treadmill uphill is good and actually the exercise bike can be quite punishing too once you crank it up. Just be careful on the crosstrainer tho (if it’s one with the moving arm thingies) because this is the one thing that Prof Kay said most definitely NOT to do.

Think we’ve picked a good time to have our boobs done, so much easier to cover up a bit in winter and then we’ll be in tip top shape again for the big bikini reveal come next Spring/Summer. Also, did you know your body responds much quicker if you’ve given it a bit of a rest from your usual regime so that bodes well for us too??!! xx

I was amazed with the uphill power walk, i was burning calories faster than my mate who was jogging next to me! lol. Yeah i asked my nurse about the cross trainer and she said it was fine so long as i didnt really use my arms on it so i’ve been keeping them at the bottom just to keep my balance but they arent moving any more than they would if i went on a fast walk.

Yep i’m liking that thinking. Lots of baggy jumpers for the winter and the gym after eating over xmas and fingers crossed getting the all clear in January then we will look great by the spring when our boobies have settled and we have been working out in preparation! Ooh well fingers crossed i’ll be back to my pre op weight before i know it. Was getting really down about it but hey its not permanent and so long as i dont let it get out of control its a small price to pay and an easily fixable problem for a great rack!! haha :) xx

Like your style!! It’s all too easy to get down and be hard on ourselves, but let’s just go with the flow and accept what our PS and our bodies are telling us. Already so excited about the summer. I put on one of my bikinis on the other day when I was feeling a bit fed up and OMG do they look different – well, most of the bikini tops did not even look decent any more, but that’s a good excuse to invest in some more for 2012. On the beach was the only time that my lack of boobage really used to depress me – went to Marbs with the girls this September and that was just the final straw… Came back and booked the op as soon as I could! 8) xx

Yeah definitely, i like your style too! Ive just battled with my weight all my life and i finally got to a point where i was happy with my weight, the lowest it had been in years and i could be a comfortable size 12, sometimes a 10 so putting on weight is really scary for me. I’ve lost it before though and i can do it again!

Ooh the bikini is the big test, mine don’t fit me anymore and i LOVE IT!! You will defo have to go out and get some new clothes to show off your new assets.

Haha thats funny about Marbella, my push was seeing my mate have hers done and i was like i want i want i want!! lol. Who was your surgeon and what did you have? xx

I didn’t have mine done with MYA (although it sounds as tho all their surgeons are equally as fab as mine!) because I already knew which surgeon I wanted cos he had done my sister’s and quite a few other people that I know. He’s called Professor Simon Kay and he did mine at the BMI Duchy in Harrogate, although he also works at Spire Leeds too. It was handy for me because the hospital and all my appointments were very close to where I live so it was much less scary and stressful. Do you know, I don’t even know what size implants I had – he never discussed it, he just said he would do what looked ‘right’, told me it would have to be unders because I had no tissue to cover the implant, and he has been true to his word!! Let’s face it, these guys know what’s going to look good and must be able to suss out what going to suit your look.. You will be back in your size 10s before you know it! x

Yeah that’s great it was so close for you. My hospital was only 30 mins away but my clinic for everything else is about 90 mins so it’s a treck to go to my checks, worth it though.

Yeah they spend all day every day lookin at boobs so they know what they are doin and if you saw your sister and friends get what they wanted then you’re onto a winner. I went with MYA cos my friend did and then another friend did cos I did lol xx
