Travelled up to Doncaster fo 10 am, Mr. K took one look at me and said yep, definitely need scan then draining as my right breast was so big with swelling. He said it wasn’t a seroma as i’m too far post op at 3 months (usually get seroma/ hematoma in the first month). Couldn’t do it till 1.20 pm so had to wait around for ages. Then they took, wait for it…. 330ml of fluid off!!!!!!!!!! There were two freaky things though (by the way it didn’t hurt at all, just a sting as needle went in) – one was that there were little blobs in the fluid that showed up on the scan, and kept getting in the way when they were sucking it out, and the other was that the fluid was milky/ creamy instead of clear. The radiologist has sent the fluid off to be tested and I won’t know the results for 5 – 6 days, but he was definitely concerned as that isn’t normal.
Now on the way home it occured to me that I’d had that problem with lactating breast milk for about a month and a half after my BA. It just suddenly stopped one day, but I was still getting the kind of stinging pains in my nipple that i’d gotten each time before they leaked. After reading on the internet, I’m now wondering if maybe the implant compressed my milk ducts, which caused the lactation, and then because of the tight fitting surgery bra, my ducts got blocked causing mastitis? I’m wondering if perhaps the milky fluid actually IS milk that has leaked into the surrounding breast tissue as there was nowhere else for it to go? Obviously no one here can really say for sure, but if you’ve ever had, or heard of anything similar happening, let me know ok? There are no nurses at the B’ham clinic today and I don’t want to disturb them on the emergency line when it’s just a theory.
Also, no one said anything about whether I can exercise/ move about normally.. i’ve come away totally non the wiser. Not sure if it’s ok to handle my horse as usual today, or go to the drumming class I had planned tomorrow
Anyway, sorry for the essay, wanted to let you all know I’m fine, draining was a peice of cake (hopefully won’t need it again), and get your thoughts on the above. Thanks xx
Great news that you are ok and that the procedure was painless.
Your theory certainly sounds viable. I guess you won’t know for certain until the results come back. It’s good to know they have dealt with it efficiently for you though. Any one of us could find ourselves in the same position so I for one am glad you shared your experience with us.
I’m sure if they thought it was anything to worry about they wouldn’t make you wait a week for the results hun.
Take care of yourself and don’t over do it xx
Well they can’t really hurry it up cause that’s just how long it takes.. really hoping it’s all normal. It’s funny that this came to me because i remember seeing Mr. K at 6 weeks and telling him about the lactation and he was like oh you must be pregnant, it’s got nothing to do with the implants. I was like err no i’m not! lol. And no one ever tells you about mastitis after BA, it’s hard to find info on the net. I wonder why? Hmm. Anyway, right breast feels a lot more normal now.. bra was actually too loose when i came out, think i’ve gone down a size. Actually I won’t mind too much if I have cause at least will be easier to find bras in an E cup!!
Just gotta sit back and wait.
Glad it went well newboobies and good luck with the results. Keep us updated
xx
Good Luck with the results Hun, I’m sure if there was something really wrong then the results would be back much sooner! XXX
Thanks girls, I’m sure all is well
Oh no I didnt even no u were having trouble what problems were u having xx
Glad your ok Hun and today wasnt too painful for you!
I’ll keep my fingers crossed everything comes back ok from your tests!! Keep is posted! Xxx
Hi newboobies, glad you are ok. I will get your PC/nurse to call you about moving about etc. Will PM you x
Well done you brave lady, I would probably have been scared out of my wits, it seems like you’ve kept a very cool head through the whole ordeal.
Hope your results come back ok and that you won’t need to have the draining done again.
Big hugs hun and hope your ok. Xx
Hi, sorry am crashing as just a newby but wondered if I could end up in the same boat.
I had my son 14 mths ago and up until a couple of mths ago if I squeezed my nipples I could still produce drops of milk, I never breastfed him due to severe mastitus which was horribly painful by day 3 so gave up and switched to bottles. I’m due to have overs but after reading a few things, particularly as I don’t think I have much breast tissue I am going to arrange another appointment with Dr Adamo to request unders……do you think this will also help circumvent this problem that you are having?!? eekkk all these questions xx

Hi Missy, honestly hun I wouldn’t worry about it, it’s so rare for girls to have these kind of problems. If you’re still producing milk just make sure to keep your nipples clean and don’t wear anything too tight fitting as this can contribute to plugged ducts. I think you’ll be fine with overs or unders. Unders are actually supposed to be less likely to have complications, but every girl is different xx
