Information for people thinking about or waiting to have it done

I had vaser lipo done today to my upper and lower abs, flanks and lower back. I wanted to let people know as there is only a little bit of info on the forums that tells you about it. I am also male, which you dont see alot of either.

Anyways i went in this morning at 9am straight into the consultation room where they checked my blood pressure and made sure my bloods were fine, then i was given a garment and dressing gown to wear. 5 minutes later the anesthetist came in to explain things and that i will be sedated and should not feel anything, another 5 minutes after that Dr Vlok came in he makes you feel very comfortable, he explained what he wanted to do then drew on my body where he wanted to vaser then took pictures. I was left to chill out for 10 minutes and was also given a bag full of all my pain killers and anti biotics. When i went into the operation room i was introduced to everyone there was 5 people all together. Now this is where i was scared because i dont like needles so the nurses made me concentrate on them while they put a canuka in my wrist which hurt a little, then i was fine. I got on the bed and they put on a oxygen mask just incase i thenfelt a sharp cut in my belly which was like a scratch which was the hole Dr Vlok to get started after that i didnt feela thing in terms of pain and take it from me im a wimp withpain. All i felt was the movement of the tools he was using. When i got up from thebed i actually felt really good and got up myself but when i did this the amout of fluid thatcame out was crazy but normal, i could walk fine but as they put the garment on it was hard to move but i think this will be okay after a few days. I was kept in a room for an hour where i continued leaking alot (all normal) and then was fine to go home. I walked out straight in the car and now inmy bed, i would recommend getting towels to put in the car even though you get pads just incase. Im going to get drainage massages in the next few days and get 1 a week for 5 weeks as advised by dr vlok. The only downside to the whole thing is my penis has swelled up with fluid which again is normal and looks like a fat blob,i can still urinate fine but its takes a while. So there you are if anyone needs the info there it is in alot of detail and just incase anyone wants to know i got hi def vaser

Hi Hun thanks for the info it’s made me feel less nervous. Did you leak in the car ? And what clothes did you wear when you left? Xx

I did leak in the car but most of it was soaked up by my pants and boxers, i had loose fitting boxers, loose fitting jogging pants and a loose fitting t shirt on. I would also recommend wearing a zip up jacket and that made it all so easy once its all done. I was out in an hour afterwords. You will feel nervous when you go in to the room theres no way you wont But once that sedative goes in your fine and feel fine. Im sore today but that was going to happen and sleeping in the garment was not as bad as you think. When and what are you having done? ?

Thats good shez its better the quicker you get it done so you dont keep thinking about it and getting more nervous, you basically are having the same areas as me done except they also did my lower back. Are you getting it done in manchester? And with which doctor? My leaking has nearly stopped now on day 2 so hopefully tomorrow there should be know more. Ive also booked in for my lymphatic drainage massage on saturday which helps with the healing i think im getting about 6 in total are you and louise getting this too? Good luck to you also louise Green with your op

I’m having mine at fitzroy hun and my docs Dr jillofy (if that’s how u spell it lol). I’ve heard about these massages I really want to book some but I’ll wait until my first check up to see if they can recommend anyone in Birmingham. I think one a week will be beneficial as well 🙂 I’ll keep u updated after my op xx

Shez, I’m in same situation as you – was meant to have my vaser Monday but the surgeon has to cancel for unforeseen circumstances so I’m in Saturday with Mr Joffily too, might see you there. I have to have another surgeon consultation though (which is tomorrow) as although I of course had one with Mr Kingdon need one with the surgeon who’ll actually do it. So off to London tomorrow for last minute consult, and then straight in the day after for the op. Exciting and scary in equal measures!!!

Had my first lymphatic drainage massage today which felt good, the lady who did this on me does it alot on surgery patients and said my body was doing good with not alot of excess fluid, bruising or fatty lumps building up, im going to have 2 of these a week for about 3 weeks, its really good for healing so anyone having vaser should look into this

Oh wow thanks for letting us know I think I will definitely get the massages. I have had my vaser today it went well just like you didn’t feel a thing the garment isn’t very comfortable but it’s bearable. I’m staying in the hospital for the night as I had no1 to come with me on such short notice so I’m currently relaxing in my room. Took paracetamol and I’m fine so far no complaints except I too am swollen downstairs (a bit weird but as long as it goes down I don’t mind) xx

Oh kool im glad yours went well too and i totally get what you mean i hate the vest taking it on and off for showers is hard and sleeping in it takes getting used to. My swelling downstairs has finally gone down but still sore and hard moving around, i think it was day 3 after the op where the pain was really bad but hopefully you dont get alot and jesus taking a number 2 with the garment on was a 20 minute mission still getting used to it. Anyways hope your doing well

Hi I had mine today as well – just got home (bristol) and off to bed. Danger I was wondering about the going for a #2 as well. Without being gross doesn’t seem like the gusset goes back far enough. Any tips appreciated !
Glad yours went well too Shez

Yeah the whole aint big enough but you can still go wearing the garment however wiping is the problem as your in pain and because the hole is small you have to watch the way you wipe so you dont get any on the garment, there is no other way round it. You wont have normal poos either as the co codamol will give you constapation im hopefully going to stop taking them after today. How are you guys with pain? I was supposed to be going bacl work tomorrow and there aint no chance in hell im going back as its still sore. Hope your op went well to Elle

Thanks danger – actually got my hubby to cut the gusset hole a bit bigger this morning, just in case I need to ‘go’ but as you say co codamol tends to keep everything on hold anyway lol.
My op went ok thanks, I think I was snoozing on and off throughout the 2 hrs but now and again felt something so said ‘ow’ – anaesthatist was great though. Did have an issue with my garment – I had abdomen, flanks and outer thighs done, and they put me in an all in one garment with bra cups as well, but because a have a long body (trunk) – longer than most, it didn’t fit, ie bra cups are below where my boobs are. So am making do with this one til my post apt with the nurse on tues, they’ve ordered me one the goes up to below boobs but has a halter neck tie instead of actual bra cups (if that makes sense). So if anyone else also has a long body like mine, make sure to ask them to order the halter one! Didn’t think of that beforehand but maybe I should have as always have the same prob with 1 piece swimming costumes ( hence I wear bikinis not 1 piece ones)

Thank you , yes I have looked into the lymphatic massages there is someone local to me . They weren’t discussed at consultations but I am def gonna ask on my surgery day

Yeah maybe have a conversation about them with your surgeon but i think it differs with each surgeon and thats a good idea Elle haha i may need to do that, its getting a tiny bit better in terms of pain day by day and i dread taking showers because of how hard it is i would rather not shower- sounds dirty but the pain is not worth it and getting your garment back on is a mission, also wanted to mention that im prob eating less then half what i normally could as the garment is a tight fit and if i over eat it makes it agony later on so just eat tiny bits here and there, keeping my diet clean now as it helps with the healing and maintaining your results

Hi Hun. Surprisingly I’m not in as much pain as I predicted its just when lying down or sitting up so I just take paracetamol instead of the cocodamol they gave me. Hopefully I can get my 48 hour appointment today or tomorrow because it was originally booked for Wednesday and I need them to cut this 4d vest it’s way too high up my back lol. I have the half term off so hopefully by the 13th April I shall be pain free (fingers crossed)

Thanks for the info Danger, really useful!! Only 19 days to go for me.
I am going to put some mark up pictures on my profile of what I want to achieve so people can see if it turns out how I envisaged not just from the surgeon’s mark up! I am not really big but have stubborn fatty areas I absolutely hate and want gone!

Haha Ellie – I didn’t go for a week and then had to take the sodding garment thing off as it pushes your bum cheeks so tight together it’s a mission 😉
