can anyone help put my mind at ease? I was due to get my bandages removed tomorrow. However, they have been so tight and painful for 2 days and last night I had a temperature and was sweating all night, had about an hour’s sleep maximum. Top and bottom, ecsessive sweating and itchiness and rash (painful nappy rash type) made me remove the bandages, except for just under the breast. My left breast seems bigger and harder than my right and where my stitches are on my left breast are quite painful. Should I call my nurse as I’m worried I’m gonna get in trouble for removing the bandages but I just couldn’t leave them anymore.Just feel so weepy, tired and miserable :( thanks ladies xxx

Is it the tape you had? I was allowed to remove mine myself after 4 days, I had a lot more pain in my left as well and the incision hurt a lot more. I can’t see you’ll get in trouble for removing it but there’s no harm in calling the nurse if you’re worried about the swelling and pain, that’s what they’re there for x

sounds like we had a similar night hun, Ive never had a night sweat like it! I even checked to make sure i hadnt wet myself it was that bad! :-( gross i know!

When i spoke to the nurse the other day she said i could take my bandages off and Day 4 and thats eactly what i am going to do in a min. I cant bare them anymore and i am sure that isnt helping the swelling. My right boob is huge!

Let me know what they say hun xx

When I spoke to the nurse the day after my op I asked about the bandages cos they were already hurting. I said I couldn’t understand why some people gave to have them on for ages and some don’t. She said that it’s just what the specific surgeon wants. She told me that if I wanted to remove the bandages there would be no problem at all as long as I wear a bra. She simply said it’s what the surgeon believes is the correct healing procedure process. I was told it was highly unlikely to make any difference whatsoever. I did wait it out til day 4 as I was supposed to but it wa good to know it wouldn’t have been a problem to remove it. Plenty of girls on here go straight in to bras Hun. As long as you’re looking after yourself and being careful you’ll heal just the same as the next person xx
