HELP!!! Nose Swelling 10 weeks post op….

Hi all,

Please can you help me my dear MYA friends. I am roughly 10 weeks post op, I had open Rhinoplasty and I am concerned as I am still really swollen on my left side not on the actual bridge but on the side. Is it cause of how I am sleeping?? Not Upright! I’m really concerned and would love some advise. I have noticed it more these past couple of days as I have had a cold so it has become more swollen this week. I suppose that’s why it looks swollen cause my nasal passages are swollen? Any help would be greatly appriciated. xxx

i wouldnt worry littlechelle! 10 weeks isnt that long postop so dont panic yourself cos we are told it can take up to a year! and you cant see the swelling from the pics atall!!

i was still very swollen at 10 weeks im now 3 month and im still swollen on the tip. and mario said mine will go down slowy by about april. xx

When I spoke to Mr G the other day he explained that throughout the healing process I would experience fluctuating swelling. Some days it would go smaller and some days it would swell again for no particular reason. Up and down, up and down. Plus, because you’ve got a cold your body will be trying to deal with the trauma of the actual op and healing that but also, like you said, your nasal passages will be swelling because of the cold….all contributing to making it worse. Keep with it. Perhaps call the nurse to see if things like putting your head over a steaming bowl of water may help?

And keep reminding yourself that it was only 10 weeks ago….that’s really not that long ago that you have been throught major surgery! I watched an open rhino op and YouTube (soo gross) but it made me appreciate how major the surgery was and that no wonder I am so swollen. I was patting my body on the back for dealing so well with it haha.

thats whats mines doing at the moment it goes down then a few hours later its swollen agien x
