help please nose girls

Hey. Did any of you get given a nasal spray after your op, and did you use it. The thought of spraying something up my nose makes me feel sick lol xxx

It is very easy to use honey,and not as bad as you think,it will ease the blocked feeling,it dose’nt even sting,put it just slightly inside your nose and the spray does the rest,it is very easy.xxx

Ok, thank you. I will try using it this evening. Just the thought of putting anything near my nose is scary lol xx

Did your nose feel blocked tony,xxx

I just tried to do it, and not sure if im being really stupid or something but it didnt really go up my nose at all, do you have to tilt your head back or anything? god im so bad at all these medical things. I feel like a junkie with all the tablets they have given me lol xxx

No I didnt tilt my head back,because your nose is blocked it does not feel like its going in,but it is,squeeze the spray from the bottle of the bottle,in to the air and you will see the fine spray come out,xxx

I didnt tilt my head back,I just put the tip of the spray just in the opening of my nostril making sure not to touch any stitches,then squeezed the bottle hard and the spray went in,it didnt feel like anything was happening,but that is because my nose was so blocked,when I squeezed the bottle in to the air,I could see exactly how much had gone up my nose.xxx

Even if it feels like its not going in,it will be ,so do not use more than the recommended dose honey,big hugs,xxx

yeah i was blocked for about a week untill i cleaned the dryed blood out then i cud kind of breath x

what did you clean the blood out with, did you ask your nurse if you could do it? I cannot wait to breathe properly again…I keep waking up with such a dry mouth xxx

i had a dry mouth i was drinking loads of water i just used a ear bud with warm water u got to be carfull where the sticthes are tho i didnt ask i just did it opps lol i always had closed surgery so i wasnt as bad and i was lucky not to get black eyes xx

loll, im too scared to clean it myself. Surprisingly I dont have black eyes either yet, just a bit swollen, im sure they will come soon.

When did everyone wash their hair? I have dry blood all in my hair and really want to wash it but only had op yesterday, is this too soon?xxx

I used the nasal spray for a week after my op and I use it now from time to time whenever I feel bunged up. You should only ever use it for a wek at a time and then have a break… That is really important xx

I had mine done last week and washed it the same night of the op. I got back home and had soooooo much dried blood in my hair. I got my mum to do it tho, after tht I’v done it myself!! And the spray I can’t get any out just sueezing it so I’m tiltng my head back atm!. Xx

Thanks, my god I dont know what i’d do without this forum, I am completely clueless about everything lol. I think il try washing my hair tomorrow…have so much hair takes so so long to dry though

my sister will do it for me do you just sit in the bath and get them to wash it or can you get in the shower as long as you dont get your cast wet? xxx

I haven’t attempted the nasal spray yet, like you I can’t bear the thought of anything being near my nose let alone inside!! I asked Dr Gonschior his thoughts on using the spray and he actually said not to bother with it and it’s not necessary and the same for gentle cleaning of the nose/stitches- not necessary Hope this helps as it definitely put me at ease xxx

I would sit in the bath and get your sister to wash and rinse your hair with the shower head from behind making sure no water runs on to your face,but only if your nurse has said it is ok to wash your hair honey,some advise to do it,some don’t,check with your nurse first,xxx

ahh thanks buni, that does make me feel a little better. Im going to try and do it once a day as if it unblocks my nose at all that would be good. There is no way I would clean my nose on my own anyway lol, think id hurt myself.

Hate being so bunged up. xxx

thanks tina will call my nurse tomorrow, hopefully she says its ok as I think il feel much better when my hair is clean xxx
