Help….sneezing after septorhinoplasty

Hey guys,

I am now 5 days post op septo-rhinoplasty, and have been doing my best to do everything I’ve been told, but I hadn’t thought about if i sneezed!!!

Everything was going fine, then i sneezed today, and it bloody hurt!! does anyone know if this will effect the surgery that had been done??? have i ruined it?? i am just so worried that i have moved the cartilidge or something inside and effected the shape and all the work that was done in surgery ‘(

i was thinking about what the nurse told me before, about the fact that you can’t blow your nose for quite a while after, because of all the pressure that you put on your nose when doing so, surely this would be the same if not worse when sneezing!??? i am so upset that i may have ruined it all!!! did anyone sneeze within the 1st week of their op, and get a horrible pain when doing so??? and did it effect the results?? or did anyone get told anything about sneezing by their nurse??

i know this might all sound silly but i am majorly worried!!!!

Call the nurse honey,tell her you’ve been sneezing and you are worried,she will reassure you,xxx

Hun i wouldn’t worry too much i sneezed too after my op as its so hard not to. T try and stop sneezing if you put your tongue to the roof of your mouth it helps!!!! xxx

I’ve sneezed about three times and I’m two days post op. I was told to sneeze through ur mouth. It does hurt a bit but it’s ok, it won’t affect ur nose or the shape of ur nose especially as u still have ur splint on! X

I didn’t get told anything about sneezing!! i wish i had, i figured if i did sneeze, then sneezing through the mouth would be best, but i proper sneezed through my nose!! so much pressure, it was agony!! i will try your techniques, and hopefully not sneeze if i can help it!!

i just rang the 24hour nurse but she just said that she didn’t think it would make a difference. I know no-one can give me a definate, but i want one!! lol. i think the only person that could probably make me feel completely assured is Dr.G and obv thats not going to happen anytime soon lol.

trolly dolly and sofs did you have an aching pain after for an hour or two?? i just need to make completely sure that this sensation is completely normal!

My throbs for ages after?! I also had a bit of sharp pain after but that went after a while! Honestly, if ur worried about whether u have changed the shape or ruined it, I wouldn’t worry, u have a number of stitches and a heavy cast on ur nose, unless u have had a blunt force on it, it would be pretty tough to alter it! Hope that helps I know it’s easy to worry about these things but I’m sure it’s fine, u can’t help sneezing!! Xx

Hey, i sneezed 30mins after op and it didnt stop there,all night it was terrible lol, i was in so much pain the next day from it! It wont do any damage but it will throb alot more! Im now 10 day post op and im still sneezing how annoying when youv just had your nose done ay, its normal tho just try to do it through your mouth! The throbbing wont stop, if anything mines got worse as iv finished the course of tablets so can feel it more, its annoying but not painful i think the cast makes it worse as well as its on so tight xx

Yeah, damn cast is putting so much pressure on my nose! Feels like it wants to burst thru lol!! Xx

when i said painful i didnt mean my nose meant my body ha. i pulled like loads of muscles where i sneezed!!! i was fine til the last 2 days haha now my cast is off im loving itt xx
