I went to Manchester Lifestyle Hospital yesterday (12th Jan) and my surgeon was Mr Traynor.
I was a 32AAAA, 5’7, 9st, size 10 and had high profile 380 unders.
When you arrive at the hospital, you have to sign a couple of forms then a man took me to my room.
Before your op youre bombarded with visitors such as nurses, your surgeon, the chef man, the anesthetist.
I was 2nd in and due to go at about 10:15 but they collected me at 10am.
The nurse had told me to change into the fancy hospital dress and paper knickers in my room. (which you’ll see in my sofem pics!)
When it was time to go for my op, the nurse told me to put on my boots, which looked great with my new outfit and I we had to take the lift to a little room with a high narrow bed in it, which I was told to lie on. A different nurse took my boots back to my room.
She took my blood pressure etc again and covered me with a blanket and told me to slip my dress down the to waste underneath. (at no point do you have to be seen naked or anything!)
The anesthetist came and slipped the thingy ma jiggy tube into my vein in my hand, which was an uncomfortable jab, but completely bearable. He then injected some very strong pain killers into it which he said would make me feel dizzy, but I didnt feel that at all.
Then the GA came, this is the part I was most worried about, but it was absolutely lovely! I remembered someone on here saying it felt like youd had too much to drink, but it was such a lovely feeling, I strangely got a stiff neck straight away, but she said that was nothing unusual, she just gave me a pillow under my head. A few seconds of feeling very heavy, I was asleep.
Next thing I knew (I couldnt work out how long it had felt like Id been asleep for) I THINK I was back in the room they put me to sleep in, I remember was trying my best to sit up, just kept saying I felt fine and fighting to sit up! No pain at all at that point. Then the tears came. Mentally, I felt fine, but my eyes were crying so bad hahaha, I remember saying how weird it was that I couldnt stop!
Then I got wheeled back to my room where my bf was waiting. My face was itching SO MUCH, the nurse said it was the morphine and someone gave me some antihistamines to stop that, which worked, but it was awful!
At this point, I had looked down a lot of times to see my new boobs but I really couldnt care less what they looked like and didnt really have an opinion for some reason, they didnt look big to me, but my bf said they did, but they were all to the sides so I couldnt really see.
I phoned my grandma to tell her I was back in my room and tell her how everything was. Then 5 minutes later, I phoned her again and told her the same stuff, couldnt remember at all hahaha.
I was fine though, boobs just felt really tight. The pain only came when I tried to sit up. I had half a ham sandwich but I started to feel sick.
After about an hour, I got up and went to the loo. I managed that OK. I then got my bf to pull the chain because It hurt to push with my arms. Then I knelt in front of the toilet for ages thinking I was going to be sick, I had that watery mouth thing when you can feel it coming! I asked my bf to call the nurse and she moved me back to the bed because she was scared Id pass out and hit my head on the shower cubicle or something.
Once I was lying down I was fine. The nurse sent someone to inject some anti sickness stuff into the thing in my hand, it was a massive tube of it!!! as big as a smarties tube of clear stuff!! But actually an hour after that, I was sick, made it to the toilet and I felt absolutely fine after that.
So a bit of advice, if you feel like youre gonne be sick, LET IT OUT!! You feel a million times better afterwards, I managed the rest of my sandwich with no problems after that and felt fine whenever I stood up.
My bf helped me get dressed and then when the nurse said I could go (about 7pm) she made him go and get the car and park it outside the doors while she helped me downstairs.
The car journey home was horrible, with all the bumps etc, and my road has loads of speed bumps which were really not nice.
Today, I feel fine, no sickness or anything at all, it’s just very very painful to walk around and sit up. You will definitly need help for the first few days, I cant sit up in bed without my bf pushing my back up to help.
Getting on and off the toilet it easy enough because you can use your legs.
I’ve been really hungry today, Im eating fine
Its just the moving that hurts, but the longer you stay still, the more tight and uncmfortable it gets, you kinda cease up, so again advice, try n get up every so often because it really helps.
