I asked my surgeon and my nurse if I should use this and both said NO, it’s so drying on your skin. Awful stuff apparently. Savlon wound spray and a quick blow dry on a cool setting is much better for you. Your skin will be dry enough from not being able to wash properly! xxx

I think it depends on who your surgeon is. I asked Mr Traynor and he laughed at me and told me just to leave them alone and occasionally moisturise/bio oil. Maybe ask your PC or nurse for their opinion too.

niki – how are you doing?! not been on here for ages, just put my pics up and was stupidly nervous about doing it :-)

That’s the one I got, I used it the morning of the op so it was soap free, I’m using it when I can get in shower so I don’t get strong soap in my incisions. That’s what they were using in the clinic at upper wimpole when I went in this afternoon. My mums a nurse and she told me not to put anything on the wounds

The morning of the op prob be careful to use anything too strong, they dont like anything sitting on the skin like mousturiser, maybe something like simple, thats got no perfume or anything in it. I would stay away from anything on the wound, even getting water in it can get infection in early days, my mum says she sees people all the time who just get in bath with stitches and think cos it’s just water that it’s ok but once it’s damp it could get infected, nurse said I can get steri strips wet now but my mums banned me until the wound closes! So shallow baths for me still just to be on the safe side lol!
