Hi all
I thought I would share my experience of my BA with Mr Chantarasak at Highgate hospital on the 1st of June.
I arrived there at 7.15 for my 7.30 admission time, I filled in a small form just doctor info and next of kin. I was shown up to my room just before 7.30. First impressions of the hospital were good, very clean. Room was a decent size, nice tv and the bed I want a bed like that at home.
I must only have been in my room 5 min when the nurse came in to check my details took my blood pressure/heart rate/ o2 stats, she measured me for the stockings. She came back with the stockings and the dreaded paper knickers. Managed to put them all on no problem, you feel so sexy with the gown, DVT tights and paper knickers.
She told me that I was 2nd on the list but as I was in my room first I had been moved to the top of the list and that Mr C would be around shortly. Sorry Emma.
Mr C came in; I asked him if he still thought that overs would be the best for me as I was concerned that as I wanted the larger implant that they may end up looking fake. He said that I have ample skin to cover the implant, but he was happy to either on me it was my choice, so I went with the overs on the basis that that healing is easier.
He drew on me and asked if I had any other questions, and left.
The antitheist came in about 8.15 asked me medical history allergies, normal sort of questions, very nice man, if your worried about going under I am sure he could put you at rest. He said he assistant will be in shortly to take me down, to theatre. She came in checked DOB, and all the medical questions and walked me down to theatre, my room 316 was opposite the lift so the walk was easy, tip take slippers with you.
The theatre was smaller than I had imagined but looked good. I had to move my arms outside my gown and the antitheist tried hard to find a vein on me after a few mins he found one. Having your arms strapped down was funny, I joked just to make sure u don’t try to run off. Was given oxygen, I could feel the Ga going in to my veins just got a small hint of the taste in my mouth then nothing.
I woke up to a lovely woman saying that everything was fine and take your time, she asked if I wanted anything I tried to say water but my mouth was to dry, she figured out what I meant. Managed a few sips. I was still way out could not focus, the hot pipe blowing hot air over u was amazing. A few more sips of water and blinking I felt I was coming round then shakes started, I have had a GA before so was expecting them, not the nicest feeling. Did not last that long thankfully
Back in my room just came round a little more, about 30 min later the nurse came in check blood pressure and asked if I would like some toast, seemed like a great idea and I was I felt much better after the toast.
I went down to theatre at 8.30 and was back in my room at 9.30. I got my first look at them at 9.45 when the nurse came in pretty much what I was hoping for. Mr C came in to see me about 12 ish to check I was ok, I asked what size I had in, he got the 460`s in.
I got the lunch menu; I had lamb, and the ice cream, now I have to say that the ice cream made the whole journey worth it. Sorry Emma I had to have my line back.
Spoke to the nurse just after lunch I could go home when I felt up to it this was about 2pm so I said I would wait till 4 she said great and said that she would have my paper work ready. There were 2 girls that I had talked to on forums before hand Emma who had been texting all morning and Sharon, I had not heard from her till the after noon when the nurse came in to ask if I knew her I said yes and asked for Sharon room number and I said to the nurse that I would pop in and see her before I go. It was nice to meet someone who had gone through the same thing. I stayed and chatted for a bit.
I got my pain med co-dyramol and my antibiotics from the chemists then hit the road. I would defiantly recommend taking a pillow with you for the journey home it really helped.
It was a brilliant experience at Highgate hospital; all the staff were all very nice and very helpful. I am very happy with the work that Mr Chantarasak has done, if you have any questions I’ll be happy to help
