Hotel stay

Do you have to stay in a hotel near by when you are a day patient? I live about 2 hours away and would love to come back to my own bed.

I had my ba done on Friday at Highgate as day patient and came home afterwards (about 2.5 hour drive). Left at about 8pm and slept all the way. Think it’s prob better then as still had the affects of the ga so helped me sleep and then slept all night in my own bed!
They just make sure you’re able to get up and walk about before you leave hospital if you’re travelling home. I had originally booked a hotel nearby but like you just wanted to go home! x

Did you have under or over implants. I have heard that over do not hurt so much? Do they check that you have booked a hotel?

I had unders and haven’t had much pain at all really. It’s not pain as you think it would be, it’s just achey and tight across your chest. I’ve taken my pain killers anyway so maybe that has helped keep the pain away. They dont check you’ve booked a hotel but they make sure you are ok before discharging you anyway.

At the end of the day, if there was a problem I would’ve travelled back no matter how far away I was. You don’t have to go back again after leaving hospital, i.e. the next morning or anything so I just wanted to back in my own bed. xx
