This may seem like a silly question but I’ve never been out under so I don’t know how they do it :/
Do they put something in your hand or in your arm? And at what point do they do it? I have the worse needle phobia and this is the only part of the whole surgery I’m panicking about!!

I was the same, I hate needles and was so scared about GA, but it’s nothing, they put a cannula in your hand, which is a hollow needle, then inset a liquid that feels cold going up your arm, they ask daft questions like what’s your favourite drink, then next thing your waking up with boobs. you can have emla cream if you really need it, but it’s honestly nothing. the first time I was given far to much, so dint remember anything passed the cannula, or the next few days, second was a breeze xx

mine was in until I left, just in case I needed any more medication, you can’t feel it though. I didn’t have drains, but heard they aren’t that bad xx

I will be honest the needle hurt when they put the cannula in but I am the biggest wimp alive!! Haha. The cannula stays in after the op but you don’t really feel it, except I knocked mine when going to the toilet which hurt like mad, again…big wimp!!! Haha.
I had about 4 different liquid things in when they put me to sleep, antibiotics, anaesthetic, some “medicine” to stop me feeling sick from the anaesthetic when I woke up, which 100% worked!! 🙂 but they talk to you the whole time through it all and they completely take your mind of it. You have nothing to worry about at all hun xx

I am too lol I had to have a blood test when I saw the nurse for the mrsa scan and I literally cried my eyes out lol
I’m absolutely dreading it, I want to be as calm as I can cos I don’t want to wake up in a state! I’m hoping I’ll be feeling too groggy to even realise its still in my hand (I’m just going to hide my hand under the cover so I don’t see it)
    Thanks girls xx

What were the drains like and what exactly are they?? I’ve read a few stories where the girls have said the drains have got stuck 🙁

They’re just little tubes attached to a pot type thing, they go in by your arm pit and go under the boob (at least they used to anyway, like I said I didn’t have them this time round but did 7 years ago), one of mine got stuck and hurt to come out but I was an overnight case that time and they left them in all night, but the other was fine and to be honest they take them out that quick that its over in seconds, plus when they’re in you cant really feel them. iI really wouldn’t worry about them hun. xx

I hate blood tests and honestly the cannula etc was easy my drains hurt when removed but the nurse said they had been out in too tight or something but the pains there for a second then it’s gone, it’s all worth it don’t worry it’s easy xx
