Oh ok, I’ll do that then, I was just worried if they stayed a bit wet would it cause an infection?! Will the hairdryer do it though? Xxx

Hi Sarahjay. Yes hair dry them on a coolish heat. Nurse told me keeping them damp may cause an infection so make sure you dry them for long enough x

    Hi Honey

I would say skip the showering for now…

    instead maybe try this;

wash from your belly button down in the bath,

wash under arms with a flannel or with Simple cleansing wipes,

and wash your hair by leaning over the bath.

This is what i have been doing as I don’t want to run ANY risks of my scars getting soapy and opening up.

    Just a thought

hmm thats a good idea but i cant bend over the bath as my new nose :(

also as u know i had the strips off as told by the nurse and have washed already hope this was ok, but will prob do as u say now and not properly wash them until monday when im to take them off… now how to wash my hair !! :S xxx

Oh crikey! i didn’t realise you couldn’t bend over! Hmm. Get Mum to wash your hair in the kitchen sink by bending backwards?!! – how flexible are you?!! ;-P

Because of the May bank holidays I didn’t have my 1 week post op appointment until I was 10 days post op.

The nurse took the dressings etc off and just applied the steri strips and said I could either take them off that night or leave them on for my first proper shower so I showered on day 10 and took them off on day 11.

I was also told to use a baby shower gel but when it came to washing my hair I just tipped my head back to make sure the shampoo didn’t run down my front.

God the things us girls have to go through hey! :D

fairy thats what i had the nurse took mine off on my post op appointment which was 9 days post op and put new steri strips on and said to take them off after my next shower….

anyway i woke up today in pain and my bf drove me to see the nurse (a different one) at the mya clinic and she wqas surprised i had my strips off and said i should of kept them on for a week or so!! so has put new strips on for me to leave on until monday……

so what i had originally done u done too… but the nurse said this was wrong..

    IM CONFUSED!!! xx

ive started a new post about this as im so confused now and getting annoyed at different advice from different nurses!!
