How long after the op were you advised you could bath / shower? Was it immediately after having your stiches out? I’ve had stiches out on day 7, have steri strips on atm, which i have to soak off in 3-4 days. Also wasn’t given any steri strips to put on after this, How long did everyone carry on using the steri strips? Just a bit confused, everyones advice seems to be slightly different x Thanks in advance

Hey hun, I had all my tape/dressings off on day 10. The nurse had to put some steristrips on one boob as it had a little healing to do, so im still not allowed to shower. She told me to shower after another four days. She says when I do, Ive just to rub either johnsons baby bath or simple at the top of my chest and just let the water run down….in other words, dont go rubbing perfumed soap into your boobies! x

I had one the day after! bf had to help me wash my hair and I held clean flannels on my scars to stop the dressings getting wet.

my nurse said Mr adamo says I can and also had dressings off after a week and then had nothing on them x

best bet if confused use flannels and wash like the victorians did with hot water and soap!!

I had very gentle showers making sure not to get dressigns wet but you can shower/bathe the rest of you just fine. I also used flannels to wash unde rmy arms as couldn’t lift them for AGES!!

I think they usually advise against submerged baths and showers that get your dressings wet so move the head down below boobie line.

as said before if you get help hold dry flannels [or handtowels] over dressings and you’ll be fine] no need to smell like a curry shop lol xxx

i have had a bath everyday from day 1 post op, been for my postop check today and had steri strips put on and nurse said i can shower with these on and they will need to come off in 3 days.

Don’t think any problem washing just so long as you don’t get your dressings wet, i just covered mine with a towel/flannel when washing. Had no probs

    Hope this helps xx
