i stayed sat upright for 10 – 14 days then gradually lower yourself over the next week. thats what i did. sitting up is mainly to reduce the swelling so aslong as most of it has gone down then you should be fine :) xxx

I didn’t know about the upright thing and slept flat on the first night in hospital. Really stupid and I kept throwing up and at one point I was laid flat frontwards on the bathroom floor throwing up. Night two my husband pulled both my feet to lay me down as I could nt use my arms . When I caught on to sleeping upright I carried on for a few weeks. I hated it but persevered and around the end of week I began to lay flat and felt ok. Not sure if my stupidity at the beginning caused any damage to the initial healing:( the v pillow thing kind of helped but not as much as the girls on here raved about. All I can say is that the sleepless torture will come to an end if not before it will be week 3!!!! That’s my experience tho. Good luck xx

Frontwards on the floor? Ouch!!! Well I’m still on my back but with 3 pillows n the v 1, it’s harder for me to sleep any other way with me having my arms done. But just wanna b flat!xxx

Hi girls, I’m just one day PO so don’t have a lot of experince but I was told by Mr K and the hospital to sleep on my back but prop my neck and shoulders up. Using the v pillow and a few other normal pillows. Finding it ok so far! Need my boyfriend to push me up from my lower back though as its too painful to pull myself up! Xx

I slept flat for the first time last night at day 8. Had my v pillow though to stop me rolling over. Had the first full nights sleep since op and feel SO much better in myself. Nurse said it was fine to sleep on my back now :) xxx
