My PC told me I would need to wear a Macom bra religiously for 6 weeks after my op, yet when I said I was going on my holiday four weeks after my op she said I could wear a bikini so I’m confused??
How long did you wear your bras? Are they comfy? And what do they do?
If I don’t wear one all the time will something bad happen to my boobs??
Sorry so many questions I’m just really curious
Im only 3 days post-op and its my first day in the macom today ..very comfy so far hun x
I get mine done on fri un go on hol 4 un half wks later, they told me to wear it every day up to my hols then take it with me un wear it at night wen on hols, get a supportive bikini! Un don’t get ur scars in the sun, put plenty of sun cream on the skin that will c the sun! They r to help the implant settle un get the right shape they ment to, x
I’ve been wearing mine pretty much everyday since my op and I’m now five weeks post op. I have worn a normal high impact sports bra during the day sometimes but I find the macom is so much more comfortable
it really supports your new boobs so they stay a nice shape and settle properly. Even though it’s been a bit of a struggle to find clothes that fully cover it I keep telling myself that it’s only six weeks (and they fly by!) and then I’ll have amazing boobs to put in proper pretty bras
better to support them from the beginning otherwise you might damage them

dr adamo told me it was absolutely fine to not wear a bra for the 6 weeks after my op! although i have been wearing my macom most days – i had a break from it all day saturday (wearing no bra) and felt fine – i kept asking adamo are u sure not wearing a bra is ok wont they sag or droop quicker??? to which he laughed and said no they def wont sag or droop – and advised not wearing a bra to allow the scars to breathe…. its v confoosing!!
It is so hard tho finding tops to wear without the macom showing underneath! – think im gonna alternate by wearing my macom during the week, and the odd day or 2 at the weekends not wearing it…. xx
Sick of my macom. I’m 5 days post op and haven’t been wearing it in the last 24 hours. Went to asda and surrounding shops to find a sports bra and everywhere was sold out so will try again today. I have a horrible rash where the macom material has irritated my boobs
my boobs are actually less painful waking up today and i finished my pain killers yesterday!
im 3 weeks post op and have wore macom and sports bras day and night. i fed up i let them breath for 15mins a day. i had 700cc so i wearing bras constant as im scared of the dropping and sagging to much. but im fed up. went out sat just gone and didnt wear a bra, felt i wasnt supported enough but they looked fantastic..lol does any one wear bras still to bed. i was thinking of buying those vest with boob support. what u think will it be ok.
Glad this post came up as I’ve got a similar question! I was put in my macom bra in recovery (6 days ago) and have worn it religiously day and night as I was told to for 6-8 weeks. I’ve noticed on here though that some girls have just worn sports bras. My sports bras came yesterday and I went into it for day and swapped back into my macom for night as it gives you a different supportive feel. I’m back in sports bra today but was wondering which is best as the feeling is totaly different from macom to sports bra…………….confused!!!!!!!!!!
Day 4 post-op and Im out of my macom already!! Felt it too restrictive and after reading a post about Kazzazi’s thoughts about Macoms and remembering something he said to me on Sunday after my op, Im going for a couple of asda sports bras and matalan post-surgery bras today. Will let you know how I get on.
The asda one instantly feels less restrictive but still supportive..just trial and error i think
tried debenhams sports bras but feel too tight. got some M&S ones in the post today from my mam n much more comfortable
had no probs wit my Macom wear them at nite cz its a bit looser now so easier to sleep in.
i know mr traynor doesnt rly like Macoms and states sports bras for 6wks. my nurse told me too loose is better than too tight and to give them some breathing space every day!
xx
As long as you’re supported it’s fine, you don’t need to wear a macom all the time. Every surgeon says different anyway and i think the nurses are all told to say six weeks but your surgeon might suggest different. I started taking my bra off here and there after about six weeks, leaving it off for the night or on a night out and i’m fine, they’re still there!
xx
Kezza460 im Just wondering what mr kazzazi’s views were? x
Not sure hun, all i know is that he’s quite anti-macom. Im just gonna go for the 6 weeks i reckon, how about you scarlett?xx
Oh i didn’t realise he was. My pc said he recommends em. I didn’t wear anything except tape/bandage thingy for 1st wk n I’ve got mine on all the time. I started taking it off for 2-3 hrs in an evening tho to release them lol sometimes the bra seems tight. I’m 4 wk post op now so I’ve only got 2 more wk to n I can’t wait haha! xx
