Going for my BA surgery tomorrow. I know everyone says to sleep upright. Silly question… but do you sleep upright in the bed or on a sofa etc.? Do a couple of pillows creating a small tilt classify as upright? I have a v pillow but should I get a neck pillow or pillow wedge? Any hints and tips greatly appreciated!
Hiya,
I’m 3 weeks post op and for the first week I slept upright in bed with a few more pillows for extra comfort you get used to it after a while and time goes really quick!
Thanks so much for replying Elisha! Very nervous but oh so excited!
Is it irught like sitting or is a slight slang okay?

Hi.
I’m 3 weeks post op.
I bought a pillow at Dunelm and it is perfect for sleeping. I put a small pillow under my head on top and I sleep really comfortably.
I’m still sleep like my nurse said on 45 degrees .
Hi Eliza,
No you are not expected to sleep completely upright, they advice semi upright, just do what you feel is right and also comfortable. It’s only for the first week which fly’s by x
I’ve been using one of those v pillows and a couple of extra normal pillows propped behind me it’s actually been very comfortable! I was told to stay elevated (45 degrees) for the 6 weeks recovery though.
Hey Hun, it’s advised 45 degree angle, which isn’t a lot! A lot of ladies I’ve seen will try and sleep completely 90 degree upright causing themselves misery, it’s totally unnecessary..what’s most important is that your comfortable and able to get to sleep to help you recover.. i just slept with a few extra pillows below my head and back and slept totally normal! Good luck x x
I used a V pillow and always ended up slipping down until I figured out what leg position to be comfortable and not slip down 😂 but tbf I think I always slept lower than 45°….
